Two weeks ago I inherited a pretty cool rifle. Its a McMillan g-30 action, a Bansner barrel, and a custom stock. The barrel is fluted and ported. The bolt is spiral fluted. I was looking at Bansner's website and it doesnt look like they sell just barrels. I cant tell if this rifle was built by Bansner with a g-30 action or by McMillan with a Bansner barrel. Anybody have experience with this? Maybe its just a cool build by my great uncle.

As far as I know, Bansner is a gunsmith not a barrel maker.

Yes, Mark makes (or made?) very fine rifles. He teemed up with Dave Dunne to start Legendary Arms. using Ed Brown's patented 704 action.

Maybe its just a cool build by my great uncle. This. Sounds like he had good taste! Should be a bansner stock if it’s one of his rifles.

He is currently building custom rifles and stocks as Bansner and Company. He is putting one of his Sheep Hunter stocks on a 350 Legend for me now. I know he is traveling to a bunch of shows this month, if you are having a hard time contacting him.

Wasn’t there any ammo or dies where it came from. Nothing. He has been dead for several years. His wife just passed. It looks like she got rid of alot his stuff the last couple years.

Yep, you have a pre-LAW custom rifle, similar to the later LAW rifles. Nice.

Agreed. You have inherited a very nice custom gun from your uncle. It would be in the 4-5k range to have a new one built. A nice legacy...

Plenty of information on LAW with a quick google search if you are inclined. I’ll link one that will take a pot of coffee to get through. https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbt...9541565/1/Legendary_Arms_Works_Rifles-A_

If you can find one of those they are good to go as they used Douglas barrels. Have been looking for a .458 Lott for years in case anyone has one and wants to part with it. :-)

I know Mark fairly well. He doesn’t build barrels. He has used a Hart, Lilja, whatever a customer orders. He builds rifles on stock of his own design and making. He has been at Wild Sheep and will be at SCI. Probably at SHOT just now. Be patient.
