This Walmart isn't my usual. We were in Winchester for some anniversary fun and popped in for a minute. The smaller one in Charles Town is where we usually go for stuff that they have at good prices. Locally, Martins is the best place for groceries, beer, and wine (but I repeat myself). A trip to Walmart can help put off a run to Costco, which is a lot farther and can run into serious money.

I get powder and primers at an LGS; have yet to pay HAZMAT. Bullets, brass, and rimfire ammo, along with the every few shotshells I buy are all ordered online. Black powder comes from a farmer outside of Winchester who supplies the Skirmish crowd.

So that blackpowder guy is still in business? We used to run down there from Hagerstown and buy it in 25 pound kegs, and split it up among three or four of us. One time it was another guy's turn to "make the run" (his first) and when he showed up in my driveway he had the keg in the bed of his truck and was wearing welder's gloves, safety goggles, and a hard hat. What a sight. He said he wasn't taking any chances if for some dumb reason the powder blew up...

He is, but he's no chicken. We rode down there not long ago and picked up some Old Eynsford and 1000 musket caps. Both are hard to find as most dealers have been run out of the BP business by changing methods and regulation. My "new" PH 1858 needed proper nourishment.

Dollar General can easily hang with Wal-Mart on quality. They lag behind on quantity.

Our WalMart has a decent selection. I find it interesting that they won’t sell 9mm or 223 ammunition but they do sell dies and components for them. I’ll pass.

Dicks is going the way of Sports Authority. They are basically an apparel department store now.
We need someone to talk Under Armour into dropping dicks as an outlet. As it it probably their biggest brand...

If you're around north central PA, the Lock Haven Wally world has reloading supplies, or it did last year.

I go to Walmart as entertainment. But they ran most of our Mom and Pop stores out of business. Be Well, Rustyzipper.

Mom & Pop put themselves out of business by not adapting to the changing market. A lot of big brick and mortar outfits are going the same way because they don't offer customers what they want and need, but rather what the store wants to sell. I go to Walmart maybe once a month at most, the grocery store maybe twice a week, get my bird food from a tiny feed store, and my powder and primers from my LGS. Everything else, shoes, clothes, entertainment, and shooting stuff is purchased online. Price is one factor at times, but mainly it's selection and convenience (time and gas saved).

My old UPS driver was lamenting the loss of retail jobs. I said, "but look how busy you are."

Plenty of Aliens, anyway, especially the Winchester store in apple-picking season!
