Today in Virginia the senator who wrote SB-16 asked that his gun control bill be withdrawn. This seems, maybe, like a win. However, this withdraw isn't because they don't want to pursue it. All the other bills went through committee so it would make sense that SB-16 would have made it through and considering the writer of the bill is from Fairfax I doubt he had a sudden change of heart.
Rather, there is a duplicate bill written by the house, HB961. Some say it is worse than SB16 but it generally falls along the same tone of banning "assault weapons" and magazines holding more than 10 rounds. Don't let anyone try to say this is some kind of victory, it is at the least nothing at all and at most a distraction.
As I said when folks praised Gov. Brown out here for "only signing a few" of the gun laws that came across his desk...
That's like thanking your slave master for only whipping you 9 times instead of the 12 licks he told you you were gonna get. You KNOW you're eventually gonna get whipped again, why in the H-E-Double Hockey Sticks would you ever thank your slave master.
Melanie M. Morton just posted a video online that was one of the most articulate demands against any tyrannical politician I've heard in a while.
