Burris ballistic plex. But go here https://ballistics.burrisoptics.com/reticle-analysis
If you use this it will tell you the yardage for each subtenon at each magnification. If you don’t use max power all the time the sutenons change value. It’s a good non busy reticle, but you have to understand the quirks.

I sure do. That’s why I asked above if anyone has experience with the Burris Veracity scope with bdc in ffp vs the 2nd ffp that most hunters are using. I don’t particularly care for having to know the bdc yardages at every power magnification. Seems it would be easier if bdc yardages remained the same at all power settings.

Ok cool.
I’d really look hard at the vx3i and get a CDS.
My 270 and 06 have them and I have confidence that I’ll put it where I want to past 300 yards. Fast simple and accurate

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

They don’t, none of them do that’s why I gave you the link. I have 2 Burris BDC (pair of 25.06) and one Nikon BDC (22.250) the Burris is better as the Nikon uses circles compared to the Burris using lines.

The circles do suck. Up close, sure it’s fast, and the top or bottom of circles can bu used as aiming points.
But if you have to use the center of the circle, it’s a guess game.
Been there-done that.

⇧⇧⇧⇧⇧⇧⇧

I'm partial to the Leupold B&C reticle.

Zeiss conquest 3-9x40 z-plex is about 4moa where the cross hairs go thick to thin. Gets me to about 400 with my setup and sight in range. I shouldn’t shoot farther than that!

I have tried various ballistic drop scopes and the only one I have used that I like is on a weaver grand slam 3-10x40. Very clean yet enough to see on the longer shots.

True, as can a good reticle with MRAD or MOA increments, the only difference between that and a “BDC” reticle being that the MRAD/MOA reticle typically has more hash marks and they’re evenly spaced, but the concept of figuring out what distance each hash mark pertains to is the same. The MRAD/MOA often has more marks, so is less simple, but is much more versatile.

I think I may try playing around with my standard duplex reticle and try a 300yd sight in like suggested and see what I can come up with. Honestly, if I can shoot reliably just to 400yds I’d be more than satisfied. I really hope I can put myself on some muleys closer than that anyhow.

30-06 ballistic / trajectory calculator. Adjust to your specific load.

This example:
300 yard zero., 180 grain spitzer., 2700 fps
