Well, since it is requested, I'll give it a try.

It should be noted that I usually post these things for three purposes. First and foremost is the fact that they cover momentous topics of great importance that somehow seem to be overlooked by the great unwashed. Secondly, I do so to provide the opportunity for my betters to show that they have nothing better to do with their time than respond to my rants by pointing out that it is sad that I have nothing better to do with my time than making them. Thirdly, and related to the second purpose, is to provide the opportunity for people to belittle me for worrying about such trivial issues while they themselves worry about something so trivial as me posting about them. (Actually, there is a fourth purpose - having some fun; but I won't mention that in light of the deadly serious world in which we live.)

So, I've mentioned this before, without getting the proper traction that it deserves, but this business of putting "Last Name Roman Numeral" on the back of players' jerseys is ridiculous! The last name has nothing to do with necessitating the Roman Numeral (or Jr., Soph., or Frosh, for that matter). If the FIRST name were included, then the extra identifier could have some significance. The way it stands now, every player should have a Roman numeral that goes back to the very first generation to use the last name.

Hope that helps. I try to do my part.

Grudging, I guess that may have to do, for now. Go to town, get mad about something. Then come back, and spout like Abe Simpson. laugh

Just because I look like him doesn't mean that I can do him justice. grin

Is this rant about football or something?

Brevity friend, brevity.

PS, HOCKEY jerseys don't have the Roman numeral stuff on them, none that I know of at least. I'll suggest you change the sport you watch if it bothers you.
