How do you like it?

Would you trade a M70 extreme weather 6.5cm for Kimber MT 6.5CM? Both unfired...

I have one and like it. I have an extreme weather in 30/06 and feels like a club and weighs quite a bit more. YMMV

I like the Extreme Weather, but as said above, it is a club in comparison to the Montana. We've not used my Montana much, only having killed a small bull moose and a whitetail buck. Used the Hornady American Whitetail 129gr interlock load. Haven't reloaded yet.

Grab the Montana!

Edited to add. The mag spacer in the M70 can be taken out to give a 3.1” mag box. THAT is a big deal if you want to run the extra-long extra-pointy bullets in the Creed. Otherwise I think the Montana, with its 2.815” mag box, is a nicer carrying rifle.

Anybody who seriously concerns themselves with the adequacy of a Big 7mm for anything we hunt here short of brown bear, is a dufus. They are mostly making shidt up. Crunch! Nite-nite!

I have a 6.5CM in the Hunter and it is the best shooting Kimber I've owned since 2004 found my first Kimber purchase.

With that being said even though it shoots great I'm over the 6.5CM affair and that little rifle is for sale.

I have one and love it, 6.5 CM is a great match for the Montana. I've had a few EWs in the past, and they're ok, but I'd make the trade.

Kinda what I was thinking. I picked this one up a few months ago and it is "trimmer" than the 30-06 EW I had. But I have a few Kimber Montana's now and I have a hard time thinking I'll carry around the rifle that is 2 pounds heavier very often. The one I'm looking at is also a 6.5. If I want to grab something with a little more weight I'll pull the 7600 out for a walk.

Well I think I got a pretty good deal. Swapped the m70 EW w/leupold PRW rings, straight up for Montana NIB w/ Talley’s and they gave me $50 cash.

After mounting a scope on it, the ergo’s are damn near perfect for me. I’ll chalk this one up as a win.

That sounds like a win for a carrying rifle.

If you wanted to shoot easier farther, I would have kept the Winchester and its extra weight.

I thought about that. I don't really have any trouble with the light weights shooting to my limit. I don't have great eyesight so, I'm only shooting to 300 right now. I'm hoping to stretch it to 400 for hunting and 5 for goofing off. This is my 3rd Montana in the safe right now. I carried the .223 pretty much all season this past year. I have a .243 that I think I'm gong to lose to the boy that follows me around the woods. So, I needed something for walking around. If something heavier is needed, we can break out the 7600. smile
