For those of you that have had experience with these 2 Weaver scopes, what is your opinion of them for general hunting purposes? RJ

1) Weaver Classic K 6x38

2) Weaver Classic V 2x10

I have the Classic K 6x38 on my 22/250. The eye relief is a little short, as well as the tube length. Makes it a little tough to get good ring spacing.

Other than that, I like the scope. I'd buy another..

I have owned several K6x38 scopes and still have one, currently mounted on a RAR 243. They work well on a short action, not so well on a long action. A reverse front ring would probably be needed or a rail. The scope is almost as good as a Leupold 6x36 in clarity and dim light performance. Better when it comes to adjustments being true. Not sure how warranty issues will be handled now that they have been discontinued.

Another plus, the reticle is a real standard duplex.

6x38 is great.

V10’s issue wasn’t eye relief when I tried it.

The 2-10 is infamous for tunnel vision - it might have the crown in that area. Still, it tracks better than many (more expensive) scopes, and is fairly clear. One might call it a, “serviceable aiming device.”

FWIW, I’ll be employing one in an upcoming shooting contest. Not because of its optical prowess, mind you, but because the rifle it rides has proven itself unusually accurate. Were I not housing this rifle for a fellow 24HCF miscreant, I’d put better glass on it right away. He, however, likes it as is.

Now that I think about it, I’m not sure how I ended up with 3 tunnel vision scopes in the safe. Unclean livin’?

Weaver 6x good enough.

Weaver 2-10x not good for much. Too hard to use.

I ended up putting the 6x38 on an old .22 because the short ER and short mounting area didn't work on anything else for me. Others seem to do okay, but they may have changed those just before I bought mine. Nice light little scope if you can use it.

The Weaver V10 is one of the ten worst, maybe even five worst, post-1970 scopes the I recall looking through. To me, it is like looking through a cardboard paper towel tube with magnification. Bushnell's A-17 that can be purchased from CDNN for $50 is so much better that it isn't even close. OTOH, the Weaver K6 is a much better scope and appears to my aging eyes to be optically very close to the well liked Leupold 6x36.

I bought a V10 a long time ago after having a V9. I figured 2-10 was better than 3-9. I was wrong. Stay away from the V10.

Thanks a bunch for the replies. It sounds like the 2x10x38 Is not for me. I would get the K 6x but the rifles I would potentially be using it on are long action and I do not have (or want) rails on any of my rifles. This just reiterates the problem today of scope manufacturers not producing scopes with the attributes that a lot of us hunters want. RJ

Get a Leupold 6x36 before they're gone. They work wonderfully.
