I keep waiting for two things, one in the sports world and the other here at the 'fire.
In the sports world, I expect that there will be blame placed on the K-State player for stealing the ball and going down to try and score (the object of the game, as I recall) for instigating the whole mess.
Here at the 'fire, I expect there to be those claiming that the players themselves cannot be faulted; it is the fault of their owners for not raising them properly. After all, they are gentle creatures who regularly play with children and wouldn't hurt a fly.

Zoos put their gorillas in cages because they know that by their undeniable nature, gorillas cannot be trusted to interact with humans without violence. These Kansas players have been told their entire lives that they are the same as everyone else, just as capable of behaving in an acceptable way, just as much impulse control, not prone to wildness.

So we, or some of us at least, convinced both them and ourselves that it would be fine to dress them up and pit “teams” of them against one another in sport, and that they’d all behave and things would be fine. Rationalizing away their true nature and abdicating our obligation to maintain civilization is our fault in the matter.

But then again, it was just a basketball game. The people attending know they are degenerates.
