Do you mean 260 rem? Given your handle I'd think you would use one of the newer 6.5's.

Don't have a 260. Just ordered a 260 match sporter from James at Northland

I have a Savage 99 that has a custom stock, so it has no collector value. It’s a 243, thinking about having it bored out to a 260. It be a fun little rifle.

I had a Savage 99F in 243 rebored to 260 and think that it is as close to the perfect Savage 99 configuration for hunting deer. The 130 grain AB over H4350 in fire formed Winchester/Olin 243 brass is my current load of choice.

Oh man, you have my gears a spinning now. I picked up a Savage 99F, I think. Anyways, the previous owner had it cerakoted so it has no collector value as well. A .260 Rem in that thing would be awesome.

I'd loose the stock.
Wood belongs in fireplaces...
Good job otherwise.

Nice rifle and I use nothing but Criterion barrels. I have two, .260s. One is a heavy sporter and one is a light varmint. I have a total of five of those barrels.

For what it is worth I built a 6.5x308 wildcat back in 1994. Known today as the 260 Rem. This rifle plus a much newer Savage 260 stainless have taken numerous elk, cleanly. Also many mature muley's .. It has proven to me to be a well balanced efficient & very accurate round capable of performance well beyond it's appearance. Have no fear you have selected an excellent cartridge.. Mild recoil, flat trajectory & pure fun to shoot. I have my own 500yd range & it slaps that target with boring regularity & authority.. .All this with the boring factory stocks.. Remember the Swedes have been taking moose with the 6.5x55 since 1893 & they didn't have the quality bullets we have today.
