If this morning, when I woke up, and thought, "Today, I'm going to see the best Savage Rifle I've ever seen", nobody would have bothered to follow me around, because, ...well, I haven't seen that much.

But today I saw the best 1899C I've ever seen, the best 1895 I've ever seen, and the best special order Savages (..two of them) I couldn't ever have imagined!!

...and I asked quietly, to the hushed and huddled high priests near me, "..are these the best you've ever seen...?" "..yes, yes I believe they are..."

as of my last social security statement, I had not earned enough in 45 years of gainful tax-paying employment, to get a bidder number..

But the guns are safe.

Betting those guns will be at Syracuse in April for those that missed them this time.

I remember going to the Syracuse shows in the 80's and 90's.

With Illion, Ithaca and Utica so close, the stuff that used to turn up there....

Damn.

I haven't been in a few years now

I had to leave for a medical emergency before I could make a plan. Guns were moving fast. There was a ton of VERY nice 99's there. I saw a flat ass BRAND NEW EG in .243 gone within minutes of the show opening. I doubt any of the ones I saw will make it to Syracuse. I am trying to play catch up. And you guys say the market is soft!!! I have no problem opening my wallet. I just have to learn to do it without the thought process.

The market is never soft on guns with condition.

And even if those guns don't make it to Syracuse, there will be other ones turned up from collections and estates.

Nobody that collects 99's should miss the Syracuse show.

Ever

Why do the guys in New England have the best collections?

It's like hunting big bucks, you don't get one every time you go, but you have to hunt where the big bucks are to get one

I drove 6 hours total to spend LESS than 2 hours there. I had to leave because Nan's mother had a medical episode. At 97 she has issues.

HOWEVER, this morning I DID shell out. Bright and early contacted a seller with an 1899H checkered T/D and A-2 checkering in a Savage case. Working out the details with the seller.

Being me is not just a job, it's an adventure. I hardly EVER do things the easy way.

Yes, there was LOTS to look at, and prices ranged from good to silly as usual. I saw a post-mil 358 F, and 308 pre-mil F listed at less than GB recently sold prices.

...my palms were getting itchy, so I had to walk away and find something that the short money in my pocket could cover...

I found these, for less than a new box of new federal premiums!

You guys are making me feel bad about living out here in fly over country. I just talked to poconojack and he's telling me how close he is to all the good gun shows.
