I splurged and bought myself a forge for Christmas and have been enjoying the heck out of it. I have made half a dozen or so knives and this is my first attempt a damascus. I was trying to do a twist pattern, but twisted it one too many times and broke the billet. By the time I got it forge welded back together I had 126 layers. 15n20 and steel from a swing anchor I picked up along the abandoned railroad tracks a few miles down the road.

Thanks! I’m up to 8 blades now, the last 3 are damascus. I can see how this stuff can be addicting! I’m thinking about running a new natural gas line and converting the forge over to save on propane. 😎

Wow man, that looks really cool. Damascus right out of the gate. What did you etch it with? My opinion isn't worth much, but for what it IS worth that I'd say that's badass.

Thanks guys! Still a long way to go, but each one is getting better. I ordered some ferric chloride on line for the etch. I heat treated the latest blade this morning and will try and get the handle done after work. Really having a blast with this stuff.

Nat Gas is super cheap right now good time for it...

Nice patterning.
I like the profile of the Orange one.

What are you using for scales?

I like the profile of the orange one way better, too. I’m using G10 that I ordered from amazon for the scales.

yeah just something about the curve that is aesthetically pleasing..Blue looks great for utility type tasks. A very cool working knife. Looks a lot like a scalpel profile.

Well done
