I I mounted a new Leopold on my new Ruger 358. When the low Warne were a bit high.
But, digging around I found a set of low Weaver's and boom.
Perfect fit.
Anyone else still use these?

Indeed it was...

and the year before that, and the year before that, etc...

Yep, used the heck out of them when I had the cash to use anything out there.

Years ago, I put together a truck gun, nothing serious like for a $8000 Elk hunt or the like, but the rifle was worthy of that. The Weavers were the last of my problems with keeping a rifle in an old 4X4 for 12 years, & it continuing to do do its job.

I use them but, damn! if they aren't the most difficult to square the scope with.

I read Weaver is coming out with a version just for 6.5 CM shooters!

That's why they suck for one.

But they are the lowest I know of, and strong enough. Also, very inexpensive.

They most certainly suck when trying to keep the scope upright when mounting, I'll not deny.

But with a bit of understanding & patience, they might take 5 minutes longer than others.

5 minutes.

Used them on my .270 for 51 years and killed a truck or two full of deer and hogs with it. Yeah they're a bit of a hassle getting square but no worse than some others I've used. They're solid and don't move even with lots of recoil. About 35-40 years back some bench shooters used them because of that. They're dependable. Ugly maybe but solid as a rock.
