It would touch on many issues the Campfire likes to discuss.

I'm shocked to not see it here, and at the top of the page for days.

Anybody care to explain why it is not a thread?

Maybe because the old geezers in the VFW didn't want us Southeast Asia vets to join back then? "It's not a war"! I'm a "life" member now, but it took them nearly 40 years to convince me to do that. American Legion was not a whole bunch better!

Interesting. My situation was the reverse. For many years I was VFW eligible but not the American Legion, until that was changed by Congress recently. Life member of the VFW, but doubt I'll join the Legion. I'm getting too damned old and don't need any more memberships.

I used to serve with a Legion honor guard at funerals. I was the guy with the VFW cap and tie and they always asked me why I didn't join the Legion. They had a hard time believing I wasn't considered eligible.

The VFW outside Ft Campbell, doesn’t have sanitary sewer. lol

They have a septic system with a slow perc soil. They’ve had some really bad surfacing issues behind the building. Pretty much, you’re better off pissing behind the dumpster to give the field lines a ‘rest’. You flush and ...there’s a “gurkle, gurkle, gurkle” audible from the back grassy lot.

Sometimes you have to wear Mucks if you want to do the turkey shoot back there.

Take a shît at home, they can’t handle any brown trout.

They can’t swing the $30k for the E-One grinder and 120ft bore under 5 lanes to catch the forcemain.

lol

That's the one that's on the road going to the Sportsman Lodge and the riding stables isn't it. Lafayette Road, I believe?

If so, it's not much.

I joined both after I got back but soon saw the writing on the wall and quit both.

Why should there be a VFW thread?

A relative was once the Poppy Princess for the chapter dad belonged to.

One of the only places I heard of him getting into a fight, with a neighbor/friend/church compatriot too. Yes, drinking was involved..............don't know about politics though, seems likely.

Ours here have some pancake breakfasteses. I loves me some pancakes.

Yup

Have to roll up the windows while you’re at the light at Purple Heart Pkwy and Lafayette if you’re headed into the post.

I belong to the VFW in eagle river. Cheap beer I guess, my old 1SG is the commander. Their VSO's at the VA work hard for the retirees as well.
