He was a great basketball player - as have been many others. He showed that he was a flawed human being - as have we all. Apparently he had a large and expensive helicopter for convenience in getting around SoCal and his pilot flew into the side of a hill.
I feel bad for his family and friends. But - why the overwhelming TV hoopla last night and today? Does not figure.

When he lost his Nutella deal.
I was no longer a fan.
Havent had it on my burnt toast since.
I used to wake up and look forward to seeing his face on my 27 jars of Nutella in the kitchen cabinet.
Kinda of a Kobe/Nutella shrine set up sorta thing.
My soul felt empty throwing that last empty jar away.

All I know is, 2 of our guys just got killed in Afghanistan, 3 of our volunteers to Australia got killed trying to put out those fires, countless cops have been shot, attacked, dumped on or killed in the line of duty, all in the last couple weeks, and not a word of remorse or consoling of the families left behind from the mainstream media.

Some of you boys really need to do some self evaluating, it's quite embarrassing..... The Fire has gotten unbearable for me. Grouchy old men. Kobe was the hardest working man in the NBA, lived by the rule that to be the best you've got to work the hardest, and he did. I remember when he sat down with Nick Saban after retirement. Their work ethic, and the 'system' approach were the same. Kobe talked of working out his girls for basketball, saying how other parents on the team said it was too much, to which he replied that ordinary work yields ordinary results.
