Hello all

I want to get a different trigger for this rifle. I bought it new about 4 years ago. I am thinking about a Timney, but are there others you like better and for what reason. If Timney is what you prefer which one do you like? I will be using this mainly for prairie dogs and gophers and maybe coyotes.

I like Timneys. Have replaced several factory triggers with them, and they work really good.

Geissele Super 700. I’ve not used a Timney but have experience with the Geissele two stage AR combat trigger. The super 700 can be set up as a single or two stage. If I was looking to replace the trigger in a 700 it would be my first choice. Lots of folks like the Timney triggers. Geissele is the only after market trigger I’ve used and I’m very impressed.

A Trigger Tech Primary is pretty foolproof if you don't need to be under 1.5#.

I also use Timney(510) and a couple Rifle Basix(L-1k) triggers, but the Trigger Tech's single adjustment screw is pretty slick.

I have one timney, and I like it.
Just bought a trigger tech, have not installed yet.
I talked to several people and they recommended the trigger tech.

Thanks guys. Another thread is talking up the Trigger Tech's for hunting and Jewel for varmints. Trigger Tech being less complicated. That means more dependable to me usually.

Another vote for triggertech. Very user friendly and they work great.

Timney Calvin Elite

I would try Trigger Tech.

I have long been a Jewell HVR user. I've heard rumblings the the new ones aren't as good. I have a Timney Calvin Elite and I don't like it, I can't adjust the creep out of it to the degree I am used to with Jewell. I have not used Trigger Tech but I think it is time to try. The other option, if it is a sit-to-shoot gun, not one you are shooting in a hurry, is to go to a 2 ounce competition trigger w/o a safety and keep the action open 'til you are lined up and ready to shoot. I did this for a couple years with a .17 Remington and a 2 ounce 40x trigger. It worked well for me but ... I respect the limits of the equipment and know how to work around those. Lot of [bleep] died, no ADs, and no problems.

Get a TriggerTech Primary, you won't be disappointed. Easy install, easy adjustment, crisp break, virtually no over travel.

Redneck turned me on to the Trigger-Tech primary. I've owned a few since, love them. In my last 220 Swift, I had a Kepplinger Single Set Trigger. 2.5# unset, a few ounces set. Also had one a &mm RUM, great triggers, I "think" they are discontinued, but not sure.

I'll have to look further into the Trigger Techs

But as soon as I discovered them I put one in my calling rifle and I'd never go back.

What load are you using in your Swfit?

Right now I am going to be using factory 55g Hornady V-max. I bought a bunch when the LGS was going out of business and they marked them down cheaper than reloading. My favorite load so far is 40g of H380 with a 52g Berger.

I've put the Timney flat shoe trigger on a couple of my 700s. I like them a lot, no complaints. I can't offer any direct comparisons to other aftermarket triggers.
