I just received a new Mini-Griptilian in the mail. The bottom of the handle has two small dimples/imperfections in the plastic, one on each side, that looks like it might be from the molding process. This is my first (and answer depending, maybe last) Benchmade... is this normal? Doesn't seem like something that should've come through QC to me. (I own several vintage slips, mostly old Queen, Western, and ECC, but took a flyer on this because so many seem to love them.)

Thanks,
M

Those sound like heat shrinks, caused by running the mold to fast and with the cavity temperature to cold.

Pics would help. It sounds like it is only cosmetic and on a working knife with plastic handles wouldn't bother me. If it does you send it back to Benchmade, they'll send you a new one.

Years ago I broke the tip off of a Griptillian Sheepsfoot blade, I don't know how or exactly when I did it. I sent them the knife back with a note enclosed, told them what I told you and offered to pay for a new blade. I promptly received a new knife back without questions.

It probably is mostly cosmetic, with the possibility of debris collecting in the dimples. My bigger issue and why I ultimately returned the knife: this isn't a $30 Buck... no $130 knife should have obvious production flaws. It would be like buying a $1300 rifle with the fit and finish of a $300 walmart special.
