I didn't realize so many from here go to the Albany show. This was the first time in quite a while I skipped it. A good friend of mine was one of the Directors and he passed away last May so I just didn't feel like going since Doug won't be there anymore. Albany and Syracuse are both about a 2 hour drive but they're usually worth it.
Are the 24 Hour Campfire hats still for sale on here? I'd buy one to wear to the shows just to see who I could meet.

I picked up my rifle this afternoon and am happy to own an example of Enoc Tue's work. It is 113 years old and has survived relatively well. It has A-2 engraving, 22" round barrel, checkered forend and butt stock.. It also had the thick hard rubber butt plate. The bore is great, but the likely hood of me shooting this one are pretty slim. It also came with a vintage Savage leather case.

It is 113 years old and I have to give it that. There is some pitting, albeit, not very deep. It is what it is but is is a great example of Savage history. It is a rifle I never thought I would own. And again, I almost didn't.

It was nice to see everyone there and we all saw it at the same time. It is a pretty nice package and one I certainly never thought of owning until I saw it. I bought it knowing I would never use it and that just isn't like me. I didn't realize it when I bought it that is came lettered. The whole day is still sinking in. The action is tight, the barrel indexes tightly and the forend snaps on with a distinct snap. I really think that the rifle hasn't been shot much at all even though I am certain it has plenty of field time. This is one I really wish it could talk. I wish I knew some of the previous owners so some of it's history could be uncovered.

Very nice. I’m curious about the case. Is it marked Savage somehow, or did you id it from early catalogs, or ???

There are cases offered is the early catalogs. Before I bought it, several others with way more knowledge than I assured me it was one of their offerings. . Although Savage never actually made ANY of the cases they offered.

LBK,

Why on earth would you NOT hunt that rifle? As you say, it HAS been hunted. I wouldn't be able to stand it!

Beautiful!

Trust me, I can. However I need to admit to myself that it's not the rifle, it is ME. I expect too much from everything. It is 113 years old and it just can't look like it just jumped off the shelf. Somebody has to kick my a s s. I never thought I would ever own something like this and when I saw it, I knew I wanted it. Thanks for all the compliments. Especially Randy and Roy This will never be shot by me.
