Bless your hearts.

Whats the point of the tape on the scopes?

Cause sometimes when the liquor is strong, you can't read the barrel or headstamp. So, you have to color code the gun to the ammunition.

I lap scope rings then clean them with denatured alcohol. Then I apply a small amount of baseball resin to the rings and mount the scope. Next I torque to required specs. I have never had a ring mark on a scope after removing it and have not had a scope move under recoil.

"NOTE" These are based on full engagement of threads.

Wood, Fiberglass or Synthetic stock without bedding pillars-
40 inch-lbs.

Wood, Fiberglass or Synthetic stock with bedding pillars -
up to 65 inch-lbs.

Hard-use service-type rifles in synthetic with pillars-
up to 65 inch-lbs.

Law enforcement & military rifles are 65 inch-lbs on each
of the guard screws.

On rifles with three guard screws the middle screw should
be only slightly tightened.

Scope base screws 30 inch-lbs "MAX"

Windage screws 30-40 inch-lbs "MAX"

Scope ring screws (Aluminum Rings) 10-15 inch-lbs "MAX"

Scope ring screws (Steel Rings) 15-20 inch-lbs "MAX"

Note' If scope base and ring Screws have less than 5 threads
of engagement they should be replaced with longer ones.

Barrel to receiver Torque 35 ft/lbs minimum to 95 ft/lbs Max.

If an anti seize compound is used instead of a light oil use 65
ft/lbs max to prevent over torquing.

Tape is a foolproof way to coax Whining Clueless Fhuqks,to start unloading their copious though very WELL founded Insecurities and pinch pics of wares beyond their "means","abilities" and "comprehension". In no particular fhuqking order. Hint. Congratulations?!?

The heavier the scope, the more it wants to remain at rest when the rifle gets the trots...
Newton...
Guess that's why they started making hex head ring screws. Less chance of slipping and maring the rifle...or mangling the screw..
