Could this be made to feed properly? I only need it for one hunt in Michigan, be nice if I could get away with just getting a barrel from Shaw and installing it.

Oakland guns in AR has Howa Minis in .450 for about $500. Buy one, hunt, sell it on your way home.

A nice thought but having owned several HOWA Mini's I just don't like the magazine sticking out of the stock. That said it is still an interesting idea. All three of the Mini Grendels I owned shot great but the cheesy stock and magazine ruined them for me.

I didn't realize they were making them in 450 bushmaster now. I will have to keep my eyes open for a used one to go with my 223 and 6.5 grendel.

I understand. Just wanted to let you know it existed, as that site is the only place I've seen it mentioned.

I agree about the mags, but am about to bring my second one home. Assuming it's a keeper, I'll replace the trigger guard with an aluminum one, which is tolerable. I live in hope that eventually they'll bring out a floorplate for it, if I live long enough. For only $359 from Whittakers, I can overlook a minor issue.

Brownells has nice walnut stocks for Howas for about $215, and there's always Boyds. However, I'm not a lipstick on a pig guy, and the oogly factory stock fits pretty well, and is pretty easy to improve.

I liked the little actions and the metal work but the stocks were an abomination and I much prefer a flush magazine in a light bolt action. I decided to spend the $150. or so more and get a Remington model 7 to use as my light truck gun and keep my AR Grendel upper.
