Just had my tikka 17 out a few weeks ago.. it shot 17gr hornady about an inch at 100 and it shot the 20gr CCI a lot better.
I am very impressed..smooth action. Great mags. Very nice trigger..
This was the best of 4 consecutive 5 shot groups at 100. The others were 3/4”
I know my calipers aren’t exactly center to center, but you get the point.

After a pretty medeocre first run- most recent batches of 22LR chambered Tikkas seem to shoot better than the average CZ 455 or 457 sporter. I don't kbow exactly what Sako did to the later runs of T1x rifles but they seem to shoot way better than the first rifles shipped.

The 17HMR Tikkas shot well right out if the gate . The CZ and the Tikkas both seem to average 1 moa or under with their preferred ammo.

I have the Tikka 22lr and it is a newer version.... It is amazingly accurate right out of the box. Factory stock and with several different kinds of ammo. All I have done was adjusted the trigger a tad lighter and shot it. Very impressive to say the least. It has me wanting the same gun in 17hmr

There's really no such thing as a bad .17HMR. Savage excluded of course.

16" is great if you're shooting out of the window a lot, but the noise factor is significant.

I'd go 20" since your in Wisconsin and it will never get used anyway.

wow mooner! "by a mile" is a pretty big statement. i've got a 452 american in 17hummer that'll put 17 grain vmax or 20 grain gamepoint into 3/4" 5 shot groups pretty routinely. so, the tikka is that much better??? don't get me wrong as i'm a self acclaimed tikkanut also but i won't bad mouth my CZ's either.

I gurantee you a Tikka won't shoot any better than that at 100 yards. And the magazine design is a fragile POS compared to a Ruger or steel CZ mag.

Likely a fluke and these were the only groups I shot at 100. The other groups at 50 weren’t better...but I will take 3/4” at 50 and 1” or 1.25” at 100 for these rifles.....

22mag has an old 3.5-10 Leupold Vari-XIII with AO.
17HMR has a VXIII 4.5-14 SF

Glad to see all the positives about the tikka...I just looked at one in 17HMR yesterday and am trying to figure out a reason that I don't need it....

I'm in the same situation but I want to hang a suppressor on the end.

Tikka's website has 16" and 20" factory threaded barrels to choose from - though I haven't found anyplace that seems to have the 16" version for sale.

Ideally I would find someone who has shot both lengths with suppressors on each to discuss the finer points but have not found him yet.

As for CZ - so far as I can tell they don't have a factory threaded .17 HMR in the 457 lineup. Otherwise I'd give them a look.

Tikka didn’t bring the 16” model to the States. Just the 20” to date.

I finally shot my RAR predator 17hmr today and was pleasantly surprised. I know it’s not on your list but for the money I was happy. For riding in a side by side and general farm use it’s my go to.

Super tight groups at 100 yards with a .17HMR takes a very calm day. Doesn't take much of a breeze to bump that little bullet around.

Being a Lefty, my choices are a little more restrictive than normal. I have a T-Bolt which I really like. I could buy an Anschutz, or Savage. I believe Vudoo will be offering a 17 HMR later this year but that is speculation and hearsay.

If I were a RH shooter, I would buy the Tikka T1x.

I guess when I start getting my azz handed to me by guys shooting Tikka T1x rifles, I might consider buying one myself...but until that happens, I'll keep shooting my savages...
