NICE......I appreciate the reply!!
Why the 8 twist?? I see they're building them on 8, 9, and 10 twist barrels....

I tested two of them (MRAD and Ruger Precision) and spent a week with one of the Hornady ballisticians that developed the cartridge on a hunt. I'm a big fan for the same reason that I like the Creedmoor: -Designed from the ground up to work with heavy-for-caliber bullets -Throat geometry that helps maximize accuracy -Availability of excellent factory ammo
I would not build one in a 10 twist and would probably go with 8-- the 250gr. A-Tip is an awesome bullet.

Frank @ Bartlein is running a 9T. 8T was available was available when I asked Dan @ Mullerworks what he had on hand. 8T will handle anything I want to feed it, including the 250 A-Tips if they ever tickle my fancy.

Will the Rem 700 300 Win mag I have currently work for the PRC as far as length goes? My barrel is toast and I'm considering what to make out of it. I also have a push feed M70 7mag that could be a candidate if it would be long enough.

Rem 700 300 Win Mag action is long enough for the 300PRC. Same can be said for the M70. You may however run into feeding issues and require the feed rails be opened up ever so slightly on the 300 Win Mag action. The Ultra Mag action in part eliminates feeding issues because of the wider feed rails. One should also use a RUM magazine box with the cut-outs and a mag follower. Wyatts make a suitable magazine/follower combination for the 700. However it does require the bolt stop be shortened and the receiver be mill out about .110" Wyatts LA PRC KitFor my build I had all of the RUM parts and pieces (action, mag, follower, etc), but in the end opted to go with CIP length M5 bottom metal and CIP length mags. No issues what-so-ever feeding using the M5 DBM setup. Can't say for sure, but it's quite possible that CIP bottom metal and mags used in conjunction with a non-RUM, L/A Mag (300 Win Mag), would feed without issue.

Haven't shot one yet but I'm reloading it. My buddy recently got one ( a Fierce Firearms Mesa), and did barrel break in & accuracy testing with at least 40 rounds of Hornady Precision Hunter 6.5 PRC factory ammo with a 143 gr. ELD-X bullet. Now he has me loading up that same bullet in front of 52 gr. of RL-22 and a 140 gr. Berger Elite Hunter with the same powder charge. So far I hear the Bergers almost rival the excellent groups he gets with factory ammo. Haven't heard about the RL-22 / ELD-X load yet. Nothings been chrono'd yet either. Seems like a real nice deal all around according to him. Everything he put through that gun so far is highly accurate. Someday I may even get to shoot it.

As for the 6.5PRC, RL26 has proven it's worth according to others. Can't speak for it myself, in either PRC cartridge.

Ive had two 300 PRCs built, both on Kimber Montana 8400 (300 wm donors) both had the mag box lengthened to 3.750" , the first one we used a 26" Hells Canyon Armoury Carbon Fiber wrapped barrel, 1-9.5 twist, High comb and palm swell added to the Montana stock, CF bolt knob added, this gun turned out awesome and shot everything I stuffed in it well with 76.0grs of R26, factory ammo shot well and velocity was as advertised. The second one is basically the same as the first one but we used a 26" #4 Fluted Benchmark 1-9.5 twist barrel, this one seems to be a bit faster velocity wise than the CF barrel, Im shooting factory Hornady 212gr ELDX ammo 100 fps faster than advertised (2860fps), Im getting 2960-2970 fps and the 225gr ELDM (adv 2810) and Im getting 2910fps avg Ive shot the 225gr ELDM factory ammo out at 500, 600, 720, and 820, my first group at 820 yards was 3", my gunsmith was watching through the spotting scope and he says "wow I need one"

Beautiful rifles! Holy smokes.
Did you use a standard 300 PRC reamer?
They look like an awesome pair of hammers! Congrats.

Just a little follow-up / update in the 300PRC I put together a while ago. Got a wild hair up my a$$ and decided that it needed to shed some weight. With that in mind I procured a Bartlein #13 CF, 30cal, 9T bbl, and went ahead and ordered the Wyatt's extended box, follower and spring. Also ordered a Hawkins M5 BDL hinged floor plate to replace the M5 DBM.
While waiting for a couple of these items, I sent my action out LRI to have them relieve the side bolt stop which they had previously installed. While they were at it, they milled the receiver for the Wyatt's box. Curiosity was killing me, so I screwed the Rem Varmint contour, 300PRC chambered bbl on - hand tight, and went to check out how the Wyatt's setup would work/feed. Let's just say that something ain't right in River City
With the Wyatt's box, follower and spring installed along with the M5 BDL bottom metal, feeding IS DEFINITELY an issue at this point. With a single cartridge loaded in the mag, the bolt picks up the cartridge just fine. About 1/2" into the forward bolt movement, there is a significant amount of binding. Seems the cartridge is being held well to the right and way under the feed rail. It takes some force but the bolt will advance about halfway thru it's travel before more binding takes place. Really puzzled by this. For grins I swapped the Wyatt's follower out with a follower and spring from a Rem 700 300 RUM. With that combination, in the Wyatt's box, it feeds like butter.
Added: Tried the combination of the Wyatt's box and follower, using a factory mag spring from a 700 300RUM and feeding was fine. With both springs out, it's quite easy to feel the difference in tension - the Wyatt's spring have much more. At this point I'm thinking that the Wyatt's spring is putting too much upward pressure on the cartridge.
Gonna give Kevin @ Wyatt's a call tomorrow and get his feedback In the meantime, I'm left scratching my head.
