Anyone have some 280 Remington load recipes to share? I would like to try loading some 140 AB’s, 140 TTSX, and 140 Federal trophy bonded tips for my Rem 700 with a 24” barrel.

FWIW, my model 700 Rem 280 prefers RL-22 with 140 gr bullets, loaded with Fed 215 primers and enough powder to touch 3000 fps (24 inch barrel), though I'm just shooting Sierra Pro Hunters.

IMR 4350 was a close second from an accuracy standpoint. YMMV.

That’s zipping pretty good, I’ve seen a few shelf ammo selections advertise 3000 FPS but not sure how close they would be to it.

55-56 grains IMR4350 or RL-19 with a non-magnum primer. Published data has been lower due to non-bolt guns out there. Your weapon will tell you when to stop. 3000 fps is unlikely unless offered in factory ammo with proprietary powders and a good tight chamber.

I shoot 162 grain SST bullets out of my Ruger tang safety 280. In that rifle 57.6 grains of 7828 produces 2905 FPS with good accuracy.

This, but I’d lean heavily toward RL-19 and don’t rule out the 150s. I’ve had extremely good luck there.

Plus 1 on the IMR4350 and 55- even 57 grains -. Has worked really well for me using 140 gr Nosler BT. 2960 FPS (with 57 grains) out of an early M700 Mt. Rifle with 22" barrel. I think the chamber/barrel may have been pretty tight to get those velocities, but it was a great shooter/killer.

Hope you have better luck than me with 140s. In my M77 MarkII, groups turn into patterns when I get above 7mm-08 speeds (about 2800fps). This is with multiple bullets and multiple powders.

Luckily the same rifle shoots 160gr SGKs over RL26 at almost 3k and 120gr NBTs over H414 at 3150. The 160s go into just under 1 inch, the 120s will do just over 1/2 inch.

I load 140 gr. TTSX bullets for my 22" barreled .280. 55.0 gr. of IMR 4350, and 56.5 grains of RL19, have given me excellent results. MV for the IMR load is 3050 fps, 3030 for the RL19 charge.

Most recently, I have worked up a load for the Hornady ELD-X 150 gr. bullet, over 60.0 grs. of RL26, MV of 3020 fps and excellent accuracy.

Ended up ordering a box of Nosler 140 BT’s for cheap to see how they shoot. They advertise 3000 FPS on the box, gonna have to see how close they are.
