I have an old Labrador... He will turn 14 in March. Tall and lanky... not over weight at all.. still will walk 2-3 miles a day with me... very slow how ever.
Lately, he has been having trouble with his motor skills. Sometimes he will trip himself and fall down on dry pavement or carpeted areas... He will fall down at least once or twice a day on his own. Also, he has completely lost his ability to navigate deep snow... he just doesn't have the strength to pull him self up and out of belly deep snow any more.
When a dog starts showing poor motor skills like this, how much time do we have left together ? How fast will he deteriorate from here ?
Well... we have come to the point.... where... the parasites are killing the host. It's only a matter of time now.
They only win.... when they cheat.

There are quite a few things that could cause problems like that. Some could be age and lack of strength, some could be balance problems. Not sure there is a good answer out there for you. I thought I would have my buddy until 13 or 14, he was lean and healthy and tall, but at 10.5 he got an aggressive sarcoma that took him in about 4 months. I have had a few dogs age and we keep them going as long as they are happy, even when walking gets tough. If they start going the bathroom in the house etc, it is usally time. I hope you have some time yet!

No expert here but I would say be thankful for anything over 10 years of health and vigor from a Lab. Please keep him out of the snow this winter.

Sounds like something neurological going on. If he is walking 2 miles maybe cut him back a little. have tried any supplements? Glycoflex 3 is very good as is Laser therapy and acupuncture.
