We’ve got some major league storms rolling through the Carolinas. Lots of flooding, lightning, and tornados about. I’ve never seen this much water running down the ditch above the house. Batten down the hatches and stay safe.

Lots of street closures and local flooding in my neck of the woods now.

I'm just a shade east of you. The creeks were already out of the banks at 10:30 this morning and we got a whole lot of rain still to come. I just hope the wind doesn't get up.

We didn't have the tornadoes, at least I'm not aware of any, but it's been raining for 4 days. The ground is soaked and the rain just runs off. Creeks are all out of their banks, but it doesn't effect us much here in the hills. In a few days, they'll be back in the banks. Where it will have an effect is the people downstream in the flat land country. High today was at daylight. Temp has been dropping all day and it's suppose to freeze tonight. Looks like the rain might be over, but the wind needs to blows to dry the limbs and grass off, otherwise we'll have ice.
You fellows to the east, be safe.

We caught the same storms in South Tennessee yesterday- - - - -got about 1/2" of water in the bedroom floors along the back side of the house. Good thing we installed waterproof PVC flooring in those rooms after having to replace carpets twice in two years! Drainage from three steep hills converge at our house, with no way to drain the runoff fast enough to keep it from backing up. The county road maintenance guys have installed bigger drain culverts under the road twice, with only limited success at handling the runoff. Thank the Lord for federal flood insurance! Jerry

Nasty here in E NC right now. Waiting for another line of storms to roll by. I had a $7800 hail claim on my truck last spring, don't need no more of that.

I live in Colorado Springs on the lee side of the Rockies. So we're in the rain shadow of most storms. My constant complaint is that the rest of the country gets rain and we get bypassed. This current srorm is a perfect example. We got 4" of snow. That's less than 1/2" of water when it melts. This while the rest of the country is getting enough rain to cause flooding.

A tornado hit the town six miles from me last night. A lot of trees down and some roofing blown off but surprisingly no buildings totally destroyed, it was obvious that it wasn't on the ground when it came over, the destruction would have been much worse. I came rushing back from Florida but thankfully my place was OK, it was close though.

We were on our way home from Orange Beach AL yesterday and drove US 45 Through Mississippi. About a half hour south of Meridian we started getting "take cover" notices on our phones. Reports put the storms about an hour south and west of us so we pushed it a bit harder.
Thank you Mississippi for the really superb roads.
And for what we judged to be better than average drivers...
Maybe the 2 go hand in hand???
Anyway, worst we saw were some really heavy rains here and there...
