There are specific requirements for stock dimensions; primarily the height of the comb, the amount of drop at the toe, and the forearm lenght and depth. Although I have been much more successful at other disciplines, I think I enjoy the M-S shooting more than any. Offhand shooting, though challenging, is a lot easier on my aging and damaged neck than shooting prone. If I could only learn to hold still! GD

The targets are different sizes set at different distances for the different disciplines. Tragically, it's not as popular as it once was. Roof and I shoot smallbore matches April-Oct up at Atglen PA. You really won't find a lot of measuring and weighing of guns. Mostly we just want folks to show.

Here are the target dimensions - http://rulebooks.nra.org/documents/pdf/compete/RuleBooks/Sil-r/sil-r-book.pdf

We are blessed with one of the finest clubs, especially regarding participation, enthusiasm, and new shooter recruitment, in North America. Anyone who shoots M-S will enjoy a visit to the Bull River Shooters club in Cranbrook, B.C. We have some very good shooters too. Another club I really like is the one in Missoula, Montana. I have shot competitively in other disciplines but I think I enjoy Silhouette, especially highpower, more than any other; frustration notwithstanding! GD

Silhouette shooting, Specifically here we are talkin about chicken Pig turkey and Rams. At preset distances. They are different sizes for Rimfire high power pistol and they can also be some reduce size. For 1/2 range and air gun

Don't feel bad, I was wondering what kind of silo they were
shooting in. Or, thinking it linked to a bowling ball cannon
taking down a silo. And silhouette is familiar, I'm just not
cool enough for the nicknames. I give permission to shoot me I I ever say,
Remmy Winny, Leupy...

For the 38 and 45 you probably want to use the 1/2 scale size targets. That would correlate to the IHMSA "Field Pistol" targets and are a good balance of being large enough to hit frequently but challenging to shoot high scores.
