Just a hunter, you need to open up a free IMGUR account. Posting pics is so damn easy that way. Look at all the guys asking for pics, and you have to go through the hassle of sending pics through email etc., when you could have just posted pics very easily in the WTS classified listing. Sorry, but guys just aren't going to deal with items for sale, if they don't have good pics. Just how it works around here.... But I did send pics and some kind soul has put them up on the classified section for me in the past. Getting pics was not the reason it didn't sell I believe.

"No one wants it at a fair price."
Perhaps your idea of a fair price is wrong, you can sell anything if the price is right. $650 is what I had been asking. What do you feel is a fair price? Looking back a little, seems maybe asking price was a little more than 650... Previous sale thread

The rifle market is soft right now. I can see why you want to re-bore it and not hassle with trying to sell it. However, like some have suggested, there's nothing wrong with the original chambering. I went the way of the 9.3x62mm and killed elk with it. It just was no more impressive than my good ol 06 loaded with 200 gr. Nosler partitions... Elk take a nose dive when hit with that bullet from the old 06. They also die from lead poisoning when properly hit with the 9.3, but from what I saw, the difference was nill.... I also don't believe there is enough meat in the fwt barrel to do a 9.3 re-bore. Your questions would be better served with a quick phone call to JES, here in Oregon.. Good luck with it, which ever direction you choose to go.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I built a custom .284 and used a pre-64 30-06 action and there was no work needed to make it feed. I think it might be you who put me onto the .284 for the pre 64 30-06. Did you leave the magazine the same length or have to put block in it like the for the .308 Win? I left the magazine the same length and also cut the chamber a little deeper so I could lengthen out the OAL on the cartridge. This is what makes the 284 really shine. Factory loads have the bullet crammed in pretty deep.

Guess it is sold.... havent heard from you. Mel I did respond to you on page 2. If you PM'd me I didn't get it. It is not sold since as I have said several times now it is not for sale at this time. It may be again, but I want to see about doing a project with it myself. The ? was rechambering it not selling it. So far only one person has expressed interest after getting pictures, if I decide to sell it.

Have a 35 Whelen and 338-06 in pre-64 M-70s. Original bbl re-bores & re-chamber. The Mauser and pre-64 M 70 are best for these calibers as the actions are controlled round claw extractors. The 338-06 IMP or 35 Imp are very impressive, and nothing short of a really mad brown bear needs more. One of the Nosler reps killed a grizzly with the 338-06 using a 210 Partition bullet at less than 20 feet. I kept my FWT M 70 original because of its weight-and I have only two M 70s in o6. But its your rfle-choose wisely.

I had a Standard Weight pre'64 M/70 rebored by Randall Redman more than 25 yrs. ago, It has been my go to whitetail since then. I also have a .30-06 Featherweight which was what I used this past season to take two deer. If I were to have a Featherweight rebored it would be a .308 to .358.

I rebarreled a Mod 88 308 to .358. If I had a 308 that would be a consideration.

If it's a 30-06 why not consider a 35 Whelen? I had a (I didn't do it!!!) made from a Pre-64 M-70 .35 REM CARBINE. It was awesome!

Thought of that too, but with having two 35's already and a .338-06 and having been intrigued by the 9.3x62 ever since reading about it in Taylor's "African Rifles and Cartridges" I have set my sights on the 9.3.

Everyone's got to drink the coolaid. BTDT myself. Nothing wrong with the old 9.3, but I found for my needs the good ol 30-06 with 200gr partition works just as well.... and yes, before you ask, I have shot elk with the 9.3. The funny thing is the old warhorse with that bullet makes all those on your list damn near obsolete.... They just don't do anything any better than that combo will in real life hunting scenarios..
