With the exception of the massive pile-ups, the super speedways races aren't normally too exciting. On short tracks like Bristol, nobody takes home a car that's not beat up a little. There's always someone fighting for position on the short tracks. I thoroughly enjoy them.

What was with the prescribed automatic yellow flag at the 25th lap?

This ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ in spades.

The France family needs to get out.

NASCAR today has become like WWF & is nearing being to the level of IROC where all cars were prepared the same & the drivers drew numbers to see which car they would drive.

I guess they think we like pack racing & all the crash-'em-ups................it's a bad joke for "racing".

Pretty sad & their attendance & TV viewership reflects it.

I used to really enjoy NASCAR. The Intimidator earned that nickname for sure.... I liked watching it, and especially being there camping on the infield, but it isn't the same as it once was. There's nothing like camping on the infield at Talladega.... But like everything else, they try to be politically correct and it just ruined it. I haven't watched a race in a few years now.

So when I turned it on the guys were all zooming around with one stretching out a pretty good lead. Then they all stopped for a pit and that was the end of the first half I guess. Pretty soon they all took off again and the dude that was in the lead kinda got himself tangled up a bit and he lost his sizable lead. Not sure if he won or lost, I went out and shot a carton of 22r's.

What's with the races having periods? Is this a PC move to try to make it more fair?

There is very little passing as the tracks are basically one lane groove, so they have multiple restarts to bunch up the cars and create side by side racing, and hopefully some excitement.

OK, I can see the benefits of that strategy..

Let's do it in Olympic track and field too. Runner in a 100 yard dash gets more than 1 full stride ahead, yellow flag the dang thing. Restart wherever they happen to be, even if it's at the 98 yard mark.

Increase the distance proportionately for longer races. Marathons, if the leader gets more than a 30 second lead at any point in the race, restart the whole shebang!

Hurdles could be fun, use a handicap system and make the hurdles taller for the folks that win all the time.

Jeez, I haven't really watched a NASCAR "race" in years and years, so I didn't know this crap was happening.

If the fellas that started that thing had tried it back in the day, it never would have gotten off the ground.

The revenooers woulda caught 'em.

No, that's every NFL game.
And you forgot the part about officials making it closer.
But the script was borrowed heavily from NASCAR...

It's not the stage racing that has hurt Nascar, keeping the field bunched is good for the sport, it keeps it competitive without one guy running away and causing it to be boring. What has hurt Nascar is what is hurting this country the most, POLITICAL CORRECTNESS.

A MF'er needs to get his ass beat in the pits from time to time.

The race today (Busch Clash) today was a mess. Three green-white-checker attempts with resultant crashes. Only seven cars finished the race, and most of those were badly damaged. I have tix for the 500 next Sunday given to me by one of the boat owners I work for, so I’m going. Not very excited about it though like I used to be growing up. Sad.

I have a tendency to disagree mirage (in an agreeable manner of course).

In the olden days some of the most exciting racing was watching someone get new tires or something and make a good run up thru a stretched out pack of cars. Maybe the leader was going to win anyway, but watching all that passing by someone trying hard to move up a few spots for the points was never not exciting.

All bunched up reminds me of the freeways in large metro areas.

I like to watch the last 20 laps or so.
The rest, not so much. I'd rather watch golf.

Sure ain't what it once was but I'll still watch it. Occasionally catch some baseball or hockey in season but haven't watched a single minute of NFL Drama Theater in about 8 years now.
