I had a Beretta A391 Xtrema that I absolutely loved. Unfortunately, I fell on some hard times, sold it and got out of hunting altogether. Now I'm wanting to get back in the woods, and pick up where I left off. The first place I started was trying to get my hands on another Beretta A391 Xtrema. I know that they now have the A400, but I did not anticipate it being this difficult to find the A391. If I cannot find another at a reasonable price, I will have to go with another shotgun. What I liked about the Beretta was it's weight, and low recoil. I'd like a gun that is similar in those aspects. Any suggestions on where to find an A391 Xtrema? If not, I figure the Browning A5 is about the closest thing to it. What you think?

Just a suggestion here...With the newer non-lead shotgun shells and chokes that are available, 3" shells do the job that used to require 3 1/2" shells without kicking the snot out of you. I'd consider a regular Beretta 391, or even 390, too if you find one of those. Keep an eye on Gunbroker or local gun shows. I was lucky enough to find a 391 in camo with a 24" barrel at a gun show a few years ago. Great turkey/waterfowl/predator gun! My son also shoots a Beretta Urika. Good luck in your search.

Thanks, I didn't consider that aspect of it. I can handle the "kick" on a hunt, but if I want to shoot 200 shells in a day, it's nice be able to do that.

Xtrema2 owner here
391 parts are getting hard and expensive to get. If you are dead set on a 391, look for the xtrema2, much more comfortable than the 1, better grip, even has kickoff option if that matters to you, but I never felt it was necessary
For the money, I'd look for a A350, its the cheaper version than the A400, a probably more inline with the initial xtrema1 without all the bells and whistles.

My 391 was the first firearm I purchased myself. Proud as can be of it. You can imagine my disappointment when the rubber grip inserts turned to sticky goop a few years back and later found that replacement stocks didn’t exist. I’ll be very careful of the materials used in stocks for the rest of my life.

Why not the A400? They are outstanding shotguns and arguably the best auto made.

A300 is hard to beat. I bought one for the price, intending it as a backup. Its my main wingshooter now. I clean once per case. No problems.

If I cannot find another at a reasonable price... What do you consider a reasonable price? I bought one today and am having a tiny bit of buyers remorse. It was sort of an impulse buy and I'm not sure if I made a mistake yet and should have stuck with my original plan.

The A300 Outlander is no slouch, though probably not as well-finished.

I will add...now that the tss is out in force and easy to find...a 3in gun would be more than sufficient.
