I Just found a six digit NH classic stainless .30/06, and I’m pretty sure it’s my most Campfire rifle to date. The Warne bases were on it, and I had the rings as well as a beat up 6x42 MQ with a bent windage knob sitting around. $25 eBay dies, Starline brass, 130gr & 180gr TTSXs, and we’re in business. Cleaned, torqued, marked, and taped all in obligatory Campfire style. I might even throw it in the creek behind my house.

Easy disqualification. Not a 270 Dang it, such a Busch league move on my part. I also forgot the weight. She comes in at a scant 9lb-5oz.

Jwood From the title of the thread....here's what I feel is MY most Campfire rifle. M 98, > 284 Win, > Boyd's stock, > 21" bll, > Timney trigger, > Nikon 4-12X40 Today the 284 is virtually a Handloader only round and not too far from "wildcat". 2017 was my first season to hunt it and I've taken (killed) 3-4 WT with it. What’s the reason for the orange tape? Moisture and debris. But if you’re part of the do nothing gang it prevents you from sticking gum wrappers and snickers wrappers down the barrel while sitting in your deer condo 150 yards from your truck that you drove to with the SxS.🤪
Talking to you is like trying to nail jello to the wall.

What’s the reason for the orange tape? If you hunt in rain or snow you DON'T want water getting the end of your barrel wet. I don't remember exactly how far but if the last few inches of INSIDE your barrel gets wet >>> accuracy and poi goes to pot. Jerry

Thanks is for the replies. On second look I see the tape is over the muzzle, which makes sense. I tape my barrels all the time. At first glance I thought there were two bands of rape around the muzzle but nothing covering the muzzle. Which seemed seemed unusual. What bout the tape on the sling? Extra? Just curious about all the tape I guess

I’ve been a life long muzzle taper. I have thought about getting a fixed 6 swfa, gotta see what all the hype is about and maybe a 7mm08 Fieldcraft. I’ll be sure to paint all the screw heads with my old lady’s brightest nail polish. And don’t forget to tape on the scope caps....

Hey J why don't you hold your palm in front of the barrel when you shoot THEN tell us if AIR or the bullet comes out first. IMO it's the bullet. I'll wait for you to tell us. Jerry

Why paint the screw heads with bright nail polish?
