He's killed 2 or 3 himself with a pistol while flying the bird. I'd like to know he he did that. It takes two hands to fly. I believe Barbarian Dan gave instructions on shooting an M16 at folks in rice paddies whilst piloting a helicopter in another thread just this week.

WTH are they requiring a hunting license? Pigs are an out-of-control vermin!

Landowners in TX can kill them without a license for crop depredation. If your hunting them for sport or to harvest the meat, you’ll need a TX Hunting license. It would be like hunting exotics in TX. You don’t need a tag, but you still need a hunting license.

Most folks don’t have DD’s combat flying experience. I would imagine he’s the rare exception to the rule. If DD said he’s done it, I’ll damn sure take his word for it !

We bought our Lake House in South Alabama 4 years ago. The first year I shot 4 hogs...this last year 58...they're like frikken' kudzu...

They do aerial hog hunting in certain places during the winter here. There's an outfit in Bardwell that hunts but needs lots of acres to hunt. The farmers and ranchers go together and pay to have them clear the hogs out. They also take people up to hunt with them but at $1600 per person it isn't for the average guy. At least they were doing that in 2015 when we moved from that area. They sometimes get 1500 or more per hunt. They're so prolific it still doesn't make a dent in the populations. There’s an outfitter north of the Ranch aways that does that in Stonewall and Kent counties. I think he charges $750 per hour and supplies the weapon and ammo at that price!

LOL!
Difference between cattle and hogs?
You just don’t lead em as much!
Cows that run are pigs!
Cows that don’t run are well disciplined pigs!
😆 LOL. Good one Bob! Unfortunately, cows are too expensive to shoot right now. 🤠

I know of one helicopter service charging a $400 deposit for possible clean up of heli. Seems some folks can’t cope with the flying and vomit. $400 may be too cheap. Choot em all. Like most vermin, once you have em, you got to em.

Haven’t heard about that change to the law yet Roger. I’d sure want to check with the Game Warden before you did something like that. If it’s not law yet, or if the outfitter just said that, I’d absolutely want to make sure. If he’s wrong, the cost of the ticket you might get would surely be more than the cost of a Resident Hunting License. Which I think is only $30 bucks or so ? I always buy a Super Combo for Fishing and Hunting. It’s only $68 bucks.

Roger, looks like you are correct. I just looked it up on TX Parks & Wildlife Hunting Regulations Website: https://tpwd.texas.gov/regulations/outdoor-annual/hunting/nongame-and-other-species“Feral Hogs and Coyotes Hunter Education requirements apply. No hunting license is required to hunt feral hogs on private property with landowner authorization.A resident or non-resident hunting license is not required to hunt depredating coyotes on private property with landowner authorization. Transportation and release of live feral hogs is unlawful, unless in compliance with Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) regulations. The TAHC regulates the movement of feral swine for disease-control purposes. For more information please call TAHC at (800) 550-8242 or visit the Texas Animal Health Commission website.” Looks like it only applies if your on private property with the landowner’s permission.

Hey, one day it will be like Florida. Hogs, Black Bear, and Pythons, will force everyone to need a Big Bore pistol or 45/70 just to take the trash to the street. Figured you had to do that anyway, what with all the 2-legged vermin around.
The only true cost of having a dog is its death.
