Full article here.

Most likely source of the virus: Bat to pangolin (cute and popular food animal there) to humans, in Wuhan's live meat market.

It's very contagious. Face masks are ineffective at preventing spread.

Incubation period is 7-10 days.

The disease is transmissible before symptoms appear. That's nasty.

14 day quarantine is effective.

The diagnostic test that was being used had a lot of false negatives, i.e., cleared people who were actually sick. A few days ago, they changed to making the diagnosis on the basis of symptoms, and that accounts for the huge uptick in the number of cases.

The disease usually starts to clear in about 10 days. But in 20-25% of cases, at about day 9-11, it turns into a lower respiratory pneumonia. That's what kills people. If you or someone close to you is sick, be very watchful around day 10.

The Seattle case developed pneumonia, and was treated with remdesivir, an experimental anti-viral drug. It cleared his pneumonia in 24 hours. The Chinese are doing a test to see if this effect is repeatable.

The author of the article gives his personal estimate that without treatment, mortality might run about 10%, but that's a SWAG.

With vigorous containment procedures, the author doesn't think the disease will become a pandemic in North America.

Just my 2 cents: Elderberry is effective at treating colds and flu, if you start taking it right away. It's also a good preventive. It might be good to have some on hand. Personally, I like the Solaray lozenges.

Stay well out there, my friends.

Denon,
Thanks for the link. For my global warming denial, I have been visiting Tony Heller lately. I would have missed it on Whats Up With That.

From some folks on the ground with skin in the game I am thinking it will be incredible if they do pull it off and prevent a huge epidemic.

Thanks Denton

Your ability to summarize is a gift.

Hope that you have capitalized on it here and there. It's a valuable commodity.

Too bad the author was using week old news to write his article.

They're now claiming coronavirus can have as long as a 24 day incubation period.

In other words. They let people out of quarantine too early.

We have three trips planned this year, two of them involving air travel and one is a cruise. I am definitely going to stock up on elderberry! Could not find Solaray brand, but here is a review and recommendation of sources LINK

I just ordered 2 bottle of these for $8 each plus $6 shipping. It’s one capsule daily, other brands were 2 capsules per day.

I've had good luck with Shaklee's Defend and Resist. Been using it for several years. Good to prevent a cold, and to knock one down if you didn't take pills in advance. I usually take their tablets for 2 days before a flight and I'm good to go.

I’m thinking a visit to the bodega for several bottles of elderberry wine this afternoon

The house lady here ordered a 2lb bag of dried elderberry from some holistic outfit she frequents.

She reconstituted it all in her Insta-Pot cooker with about a 1/2 gallon of water and made up several jewelled half pints of concentrated juice.

It fugging disgusting. I’ve never drank an old womerns douche water, but this is probably what I perceive it to taste like. *barrrfff*

So we got that going for us

New China King buffet next to Don Pancho’s, bat on a stick is on the end, 3rd buffet line, (beside the egg rolls) across from the pizza bites.

Before you take elderberry make sure you read up on the risk of cytokine storm. I’m no doctor or expert but based on what I read elderberry could increase the risk of death
