Anyone know what kind of money a land owner gets when energy generation windmills are installed on their land?

Typically, you would be paid on the nameplate capacity of the turbines.

The higher the wind, the bigger the generators.

Years ago they were installing a lot of 1.5 MW turbines. I think that they have 2 MW turbines now.

A 50 MW field might be worth 200,000 dollars per year to the land owner......unless something drastic has changed.

Down here in S Tx $10k per year per windmill. Just talked to neighbor and they are installing new generation windmills and will be paying $30k per year per windmill.

They are on two sides of us. I'd not want to farm around one.

It would be better than having a gas well in the 90's.

MUCH better than having a gas well today.

Anyone who has a wind farm should be saving some of that money for the De-commission phase of the project.

when the company leaves? I don't see that happening, at least not in my life time. They just keep putting more and more of them up around here, so I don't see the end to them any time soon, or far.

I was hearing $6K a year in the wheat fields of Eastern WA 5-6 years ago. Does that sound about right? And they were built the folks farmed right up to the bases as the turbine blade tips were well above tractor/harvester height.

Can a fella make $6K a year on an acre of dry land wheat?

I didn't think so.

Lots of folks there were PO'd as the views on their 100+ year old family farms were ruined along with the noise from the dang things if the neighbor's setup was close enough.

There have been some cases of wind fields abandoned and decommission costs left to the land owner.

Decommission clauses are written into the lease......buuuuuut.....those are always followed to the letter, right?

To the letter...............right!

Especially when the company files for bankruptcy or such, right?

Or has better lawyers than Farmer Nancy and her daughters.

I wonder if a coupla bags of fertilizer and some "accidentally spilled" diesel would take one down?

You can't squeeze blood out of a bankrupt turnip. Bankruptcy cancels all contracts.

Had a friend tell me it was making him more money than oil wells.
