Sure hate to see stuff like this, police officer severely injured, one boy's life ruined forever, 5 girls also maybe. Where the hell were the parents? Some people should be neutered pre-puberty. eek

A police officer in Montana was seriously injured early Saturday after a car full of teenagers ran him over, police said.

The Billings Police Department said the driver deliberately sped toward the officer who had been giving commands to stop.

The suspects had sped away from officers multiple times that evening, according to a news release.

Officers reportedly found the car around 1:12 a.m. As the officers gave commands to the people inside the stopped car, it suddenly accelerated and drove straight at the officers, police said.

A Billings officer was struck, suffering serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He underwent surgery at a nearby hospital.

His identity has not been released. Police said he’s 35 years old and a six-year veteran with the department.

The car sped away again and crashed nearby, police said. The people inside the car tried running off, but police said they arrested them.

The suspects included five girls, ages 13 to 16, and the driver, a 14-year-old boy.

The driver’s identity was not released. He was remanded into youth services and charged with attempted deliberate homicide, police said.

An investigation was ongoing.

Wonder if any of them ever were abused by their parents?

You know, like beaten with a switch or a belt?

Bet not!

I heard about that this morning on the radio.

Safe bet is that half the people around here that are breeding, shouldn't.

It's a mess.

It’s not always the parents. I dislike the knee-jerk blame parents get. Some kids just make bad choices.

As far as the kid, he’ll be cooling his heels in juvie until he’s 21.

Obey lawful commands. Video interactions. Hold bad cops accountable. Problem solved.

I'll bet that they have been real pleasures to have in the classroom as well - wasting everyone's time who wishes to get an education and being a royal pain in the ass to those trying to provide that education.

Not a real member - just an ordinary guy who appreciates being able to hang around and say something once in awhile.

A 14 year old boy, with five girls from 13-16 years old. Out on the streets after midnight.

Was the 14 yo dude running a prostitution ring or something?

Sounds like the kid had a good thing going until the fuzz showed up. Hopefully the guy recovers to full active duty quickly.

Well hello Mr. Fancy Pants......

Kids like 'em?

I haven't had one in years.

Didn't know it was an Indian thing.

Now I'm really curious as to the details of this incident.

Hopefully the officer has a full recovery.

'Nother sad story, same neck of the woods; 16yo Indian girl wanders off from the rest area north of Hardin on New Year's Day, dunno the time, left there by a group coming home from a party, maybe in Billings, gone when a relative arrived to pick her up. It was unseasonably warm at that time for Montana; lows only in the 30's that night and New Year's Eve, highs close to 50, not cold enough to dress for serious cold . Maybe she passed out and died from hypothermia I dunno.

16 years old, looks like a nice kid.

IIRC Hardin is about 25 miles south, I stopped in at that small rest area to take a nap back in July on my bike trip headed south from Billings to the Little Big Horn, the usual friendly folks I encountered everywhere up there. Didn't think a tragedy quite like this would happen there.

Jnyork: I had not heard of this I was chasin guns most all day Sunday - thanks for sharing your concerns.
Sad and stupid actions on the part of the underage driver!
I assume it was either his parents vehicle or a stolen vehicle?
Lawsuits are gonna fly irregardless.
And I also wish the law enforcement officer a quick recovery and as fully as possible.
Take it from someone who knows cars vs. people creates long term pains for the people.
Thanks again.
