looking through a box of old Savage stuff and dug out a Savage 99 barrel in 22-250. It's 22 inches long, with no roll marks or caliber marking, dove-tails cut for rear sight and forend barrel stud - but not drilled or dovetailed for a front sight. The only markings I see on it is a letter 'k' on the underside and a mark next to it that could be an 'I' . It's blued and looks new. Is this one of the barrels Numrich Gun Parts was selling? Any thoughts on what it is. I also found a Savage 1895 half round barrel that's been cut back to 22 inches with a crude dovetail cut for a new front sight. Chris

Don't know what it is but I had a 375 barrel that matches your description.

Your description of the 22-250 barrel would suggest that it is one of the GPC barrels. IIRC, GPC sold those unmarked Savage 99 barrels in 22-250, 7mm-08, and 375 WIN.

I have a 99E action with a GPC 22-250 barrel installed and have a couple of loose 22-250 and 7mm-08 barrels around somewhere.

EDIT: The 22-250 barrel that I installed on the 99E action was d&t with 2 holes for a front sight ramp.

don't know what it is, but I wish I had it and an donor action! Would be just what the Dr ordered to keep me amused on these miserable winter days!

I used one of those barrels to build a DL (ish) in 22-250. It works.

Is that a rabbit or coyote?

I appreciate everyone sharing their insights regarding the 22-250 barrel. Doug - I don't really have a use for the barrels. I would probably sell either one if someone could use them for a project. i'll send you a pm. Chris

260Remguy, would you happen to want to get rid of one of those 708s?
