Can anyone recommend a smith to work on on 11-87? The magazine spring tube has separated from the receiver. And needs to be silver soldered back in.

Have you called Remington? They should fix it under warranty.

You Rem 11/87 has to go to Remngton for a new receiver with magazine tube.,,,no other way to repair. When Remington introduced the Rem 11/87 there should have corrected the design flaw of soldering the magazine tubes into the receiver to a a threaded receiver and mag tube. Winchester threaded the receiver and mag tubes on the Winchester Super -X model One which made replacement so easy.

Known 1187 flaw. Had the same thing happen and a good chance it will happen to any 1187 that is shot a lot. A good Smith can fix it or send it back to Remington. Then buy a Beretta or Benelli.
Addition: Shotgun forum Rules: Mentioning the great SuperX Model 1 and Remington 1187 in the same sentence is grounds for a possible 1 month banishment.

Is the 1100/870 manufactured the same way? Didn’t know they had that problem.

Can anyone recommend a smith to work on on 11-87? The magazine spring tube has separated from the receiver. And needs to be silver soldered back in. To relate my own broken magazine tube issue from some some years back. I bought my son who was shooting scholastic trap a "lefty" Rem 1100 trap gun off Gunbroker that had a lot of miles on it...yet the fantastic high grade stock and forearm made the purchase worth while. The magazine tube eventually snapped off the shotgun. Now Remington has not made alefty 1100 since the late 70's or early 80's. I called Remington and they had me ship the receiver to Illion, New York with a check for $135.00. After a 4 month wait I received back a brand new Remington 1100 "Left hand" receiver with magazine tube attached of course. The scroll engraving on the receiver was different but I did not care...heck a brand new leftey receiver for $135.00.....worked for me and my son.
