Tried some lamb one time. Way too much gamey flavor for me. Don't ever care to try it again. Now, I do like barbequed mutton, if it's cooked right.

Of all places for people to complain about gamey flavor, I wouldn't expect that here. 😕

Last night. Elk chili, local tamales, and my beans on the side.

You caught the crud Paul?

Anyway, I think the trouble with lamb for most people is that unless they are regular lamb eaters, the first lamb they ate as adults was a 4H buddy lamb.

Usually, when you fatten an animal it is beneficial to fatten two. Two animals will eat more because of competition. Each gaining weight faster.

I have never eaten a buddy lamb that was any good.

I like barley fat beef and pork.

Grass fat is the only way to fly with lamb and mutton.

Dang.

Be careful.

The crud this year seems to be especially vicious.

About 33 years ago, I tried to oven cook a leg of lamb. (I know the year because I had just got married...) That attempt stunk up the apartment I was in so badly I could not bear to eat it. The wife wouldn't touch it either!

I never tried lamb again until this past fall, when we went to a "Brazilian Steakhouse" and they come by with lamb chops. Don't know what came over me, but I tried it. All I can say was it was very good! The wife of course, would not touch it. So to this day, I don't know whether it was the leg I purchased or my cooking technique that soured me to lamb. I will try it again, and hope for the best!

Dinner tonight was a ground beef and potato skillet mashup with red swiss chard yellow, green onions, fresh garlic. Cumin, worcestershire, red wine vinegar, Franks redhot, salt and pepper,

Served open face on bakery whitebread topped with swisscheese.

Damn now i want lamb.

Take care Paul.
