what did the cops do wrong? there must have been a warrant put out for his arrest. police were supposed to take him into custody . police just get blamed into wrong doing just for doing there job?????? some guys here just love to jump on the police for any thing because they have a personal hatred of the police. they look for anything to spit out there hatred to make themselves feel better?? blame the people responsible for the warrant, the search scope of the warrant. god help us all for being proud Americans .

All cops swear an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the united States against ALL enemies foreign and DOMESTIC. They all want to say they have to obey orders but under the separation of powers doctrine all 3 branches are coequal and separate, so the police DO NOT have to commit Treason if the judges and lawyers say so, and they do NOT have to commit treason when the legislature says so, and they don't even have to do it if their own sheriff or chief says so when it is in open and and obvious opposition to the Bill of Rights in the constitution they SWORE to uphold!!!! Most said So help me God" at the end of that oath.
And so the idea that "I vas only followink orderz " is no better today than it was in the Nuremberg trials. Cops ALWAYS do the crime of treason whereas the judges and politicians only write them on paper.
So yes, it is the fault of the cops.

Sorry Paul, but this is simply the truth. Remember that Hitler never killed a single person in WW2. he is remembered as a monster, but it was the one "who followed orders": that did the murder. In the court of God at the end, who do you think is going to have to stand for the actual killing? In the same court do you think treasonous cops are going to be free and clear?

Police are not attorneys, and SOMETIMES I can give them a bit of leeway when they have to make a decision on the spot. In this case it appears they had time to decide to arrest or charge the kid. It is the prosecutors who are ostensibly well versed in the law, the Constitution, and court decisions, and it is their "interpretations" that scares me/piss me off the most. This is an intentional misinterpretation of the law and an intentional omission of any consideration of Constitutional rights. By setting such a high bond, keeping him in jail, placing him under house arrest, the prosecutor is already meting out punishment before the kid ever sees a trial. There should be repercussions to prosecutors--and the judges who allow it to happen--who behave like this
Somebody in the college with a bit of local political influence must have leaned on somebody in the DA's office.
