BPS? 870? Miroku M12?

Not looking for a collector type gun. Definitely <$1000.00
I’m thinking choke tubes would be a plus.

Anything to lookout for or avoid?

Why a pump?

No real reason other than I like pumps.

I like the Franchise 48 but am thinking a pump would be fun.

That 37 sure is pretty! Pretty sure it’d be north of what I want to spend.

I did see that CZ has a 28 pump that can be had for around $375-$400. May have to give a Turkish pimp a go for that kind of money. If I decide the 28 is for me, may try the 37 down the road.

Your original post mentioned less than a $1000 and new it was. Awhile back, I saw a used one that beat it by an addition couple hundred.

That CZ has nicer wood than the Ithaca 37....

Had a Miroku Model 12 in 28 gauge for a long time. It was used when I bought it, but in good shape, and I shot it a lot. By the time I was done with it, it was as smooth as any well-used Winchester Model 12. If you can find one in your price range, I'd highly recommend you jump on it.

Only advice that I would give you is to try to find something scaled for 28 ga. If it is just a 28 barrel on a 20 ga gun, would seem to make sense just to shoot a 20 ga. For example, I think that Browning makes (or made) their 410, 28ga, 20ga, and 16ga BPS all on the same frame. At 7lbs, that seems like one beefy 28ga. Although I do appreciate just having a 28 gun for something different. There are probably some pumps made on smaller 28 ga frames, but I’m not knowledgeable enough about them to point you in any direction.

I have a 28 ga Akkar (Turkey) youth gun that I bought for the kids because it is so light/compact and I figured 28 ga kicks less than 20 ga.
