Tossi g the $1300 memory foam we have thats only 3yrs old. Need something comfortable that will last don't trust any brand.

We have 10 years on our sleep number so far. We got one without the built in topper. It was FAR cheaper to just buy a topper from Costco. That way you can get the thickness you like and replace it as needed.

I don't know what's good, but I'll tell you what is not, Beauty Rest.

And thats what we were contemplating buying.. I hate mattress shopping

Anything of quality that will last is spendy, $2000+ to start. For traditional Sterns & Foster, memory foam, Tempur-Pedic or Tuffy Lux.

Got a sleep number 11 years ago, best money I ever spent. they have been running ads on tv for 50% off. We went to look to get a new one as they came along way since we bought ours, they scared me away with the price. Nothing wrong with the old one, to spend 6 grand on something that I really dont need, be different if the old one took a dump.

How do you roll out of th e big holes in the sleep number. We had one for a few years and threw it out. They told us to blow it up hard and get a thick pad. That’s Schitt. Opinions vary. Ed k

This is exactly where we're at.

Our Tempur Pedic is only 6-7 years old and the only hard spot left is dead center in the king size mattress. We bought it mostly for me , as I need a hard mattress, we got their stiffest one. Wife is starting to hate it now as she sinks in and has a hard time getting out on her side. I've tried turning it sideways, and that helps, but still not good.

Maybe I need to look at it in an amortizing way? All that money we spent/2190 nights slept on it. Probably works out to $1 a day or some scheidt.

Looking into having a "local" mattress company build one for our next purchase. Couple of them in the Norcal/ Sacramento areas.

I dont know about now, but back in the late 90's Sealy made 5 different quality mattresses. #1 being the cheapest and #5 being the best. We bought a bedroom set and bought the #4 mattress. Wife rotates or flips it about every 3 - 4 months and it's still just as firm as it was from day one. No sags or soft spots. She's kept a cover on it and like RC said, buy the topper separately.

We've had a king size Sleep Number (2 air bags) for about 12 years.

Kind of surprising how well these 12-year-old bags still hold air. Only need a little top up from the pump every couple of months or if I feel like a change in firmness.

Will say in addition that I will never buy another mattress that has a coil spring in it.

The only foam that I found to be durable is natural Latex. All other foams have developed soft spots within a year, in my experience. Had no luck with memory foam, as that provides little in the way of back support if you need a firm mattress....so a good quality innerspring with Latex top.
