Bernie Sanders-backer Susan Sarandon says: 'We’re not looking to keep Nancy Pelosi'

Actress and activist Susan Sarandon has hit back at Democratic presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg for claiming that front-runner Bernie Sanders could jeapordise down-ballot candidates in November - and backed the ouster of Nancy Pelosi.

He wrote on Twitter: “Senator Sanders is ignoring, dismissing, or even attacking the very Democrats we absolutely must send to Capitol Hill in order to keep Nancy Pelosi as Speaker, in order to support judges who respect privacy and democracy, and in order to send Mitch McConnell into retirement.”

But Sarandon hit back - and backed the ouster of Ms Pelosi.

She wrote on Twitter: "We’re not looking to keep Pelosi because there’s a progressive running against her who supports Medicare for All and the Green New Deal among other things.”

It was accompanied by a link to the website of democratic socialist Shahid Buttar, who has launched a primary challenge against Ms Pelosi for her House seat.

Mr Buttigieg took aim at Mr Sanders after the self-described democratic socialist secured an overwhelming victory in Nevada on Saturday night.

He called the Vermont senator's campaign an "inflexible, ideological revolution” and painted him as someone who would destroy party unity.

Democrats are well known for their primary battles..........from the local level, up to the national one. But, when the general election rolls around, and they're voting against the Republican candidate, they usually stick together, even it means they have to hold their noses and vote for someone they don't like.

I will guarantee you.........it's not going to matter who the Democrats elect as their presidential candidate, that person will run Trump a very close race.

You will huh, you guarantee this no matter who the challenger is.

Close race in the Electoral, popular or both?

I don't see the Demonrats letting Bernie be their voice and him getting the nomination. I see a demoncratic national convention that gets brokered and the Demonrats running Hillary.

Please God.............let them get violent and kill each other off in large numbers.

Those few that survive could then be convicted felons and not ever be let out of prison where their world will not have guns in the population, all things are free to them and no one is allowed to do anything without the approval and observation of government. Where trying to speak out and organize is a crime to by punished even more, and even your funeral is paid for by government .............just like they demanded for all of us.

Pleeeeeease !!!!

I bet Bernie bows out if he is leading still in beginning of summer due to a surprise sudden medical condition and Blumberg jumps in with a diverse female moderate running mate. Dems know they can't win with Bernie

Bernie reminds me of Trump in 2016 in that nobody thought he was a plausible candidate until he had quietly built up some momentum and then suddenly it was too late to stop him......Don't see any of the so-called "moderate" Dems dropping out in time to allow them to consolidate the anti-Bernie vote....

Bernie will get robbed of the nomination in a brokered convention and his supporters will be so pissed that they either stay home or vote for Trump out of spite.

He's a millionaire with three homes. Never held a real job that I've heard about, at least not one to acquire that much wealth.

They can probably make make him a "Don Corleone" deal he can't refuse. A man can always use another house or two. And, don't ya know, that would sure beat the alternative... blush

Ole Bernie may be a commie, but he ain't dumb...

Susan Sarandon is an out of touch libtard commie. She has no connection to the real world. She has no clue what it feels like to balance your check book while worrying what groceries to buy and still have enough money left to buy medicines for her asmatic daughter. She's like the rest of Hollywood, out of touch with reality. Those people need to just sit in their corner and sip their $100 a bottle wine and stay out of the political fray, and Nutty Nancy is not much better. The whole kit and Kabootle of those who call themselves Democrats these days is totally out of touch. They have no concept of the beauty of this country, how great it really is or how it got great. They are truly a bunch of people who've lost their way while many are living the American Dream and don't even know it. They need to wake up and appreciate what they have and mainly they need a good lesson in what gave them what they have. It wasn't commie Socialism!

I gotta admit I'm enjoying the show, for now...

I see too many downsides to this to be really happy about it, though. The rise of the communist far left we are seeing is truly alarming. I hope it's a flash in the pan, like it was in the early 1970's, but I'm concerned that the way the communists have controlled our universities for the past 30 years has bred an entire generation susceptible to their lies. If those birds come home to roost we are in trouble.

But in the meantime, the Democratic Party is really deep trouble. Their blue collar base is being completely ignored by all these "new, fresh" candidates, and that is going to cost them a lot of votes in November. The old guard is truly too old to hang on. This means that the radicals are going to take over the reins of the Party, and soon... which means the Democratic Party will become the de facto Communist Party of America. The old guard Democrats will have to either 1) join the Republican Party, or 2) form a new, centrist party to replace the coalition the Democratic Party used to represent.

If it comes to that and they choose the latter, which I hope they will, the communists will be marginalized and will never succeed in gaining power through electoral means. They may even dry up and die on the vine, which is what I truly hope happens.

I'm about 60% confident that is what will happen. Bernie will have another "heart attack" (Arkancide, or at least an attempt on it), and the DNC will have to move in to ensure someone "healthy" gets the nod.

My other 40% is that Hillary will somehow vault into the primaries before the convention and steal Bernie's thunder so strongly that they don't have to have a brokered convention.

Either way, Hillary will be the nominee.
