I've had a peek at times at what most folks think of me. Thankfully, it is mostly good.
Everyone seems to identify me by my suspenders. If you say "The Suspender Guy" to someone, they know who you're talking about.
Second, they always seem to know me by my size. I'm not a big guy. I'm THE BIG GUY. It's true. I've got the same rough dimensions as John Wayne at this age. You know when I walk into the room. That's been a bit of a bugaboo. Some people think I'm scary. I see some people visibly shrink in front of me. I have to be careful around LEO's and the like.
Third, I know from folks talking about my Mom, that everyone is taken aback by her general cheery outlook. Someone asks her how she's doing, she'll always answer something bright and optimistic and then shoot back, "And how are you doing?" I inherited it from her and from her father, Whitey. I was forged in a crucible of fierce Welsh Methodism. We are charged with going into the world as the beacon of God's Brightness in the World, or something like that. Bottom line: Grandpa Whitey always taught us to be bright, cheery, and full of good humor. I'm wired to be that way. When I'm in the least bit down, tired or depressed, it's like the whole world knows it.
