But that is fugging outrageous.
1 hour job max
Most places 80 to 120 for a shop hour.

I feel sorry for whelenman
Pissed off at the D bag who charged him like that.

Fugging mechanic taking advantage of whatever.

If he was a neighbor of mine and said his vehicle was fugged up with basic job like that.
I woulda done it for him for 40 bucks
Half the min of 80 for a shop hour
And used my 10% mil discount for parts.

Done schit like that before for people.
I might not enjoy swinging wrenches.
But people getting azz raped by shops like he did is fugging outrageous....

And we all know it.

That is a 1 hour job for labor plus the parts.
Which garages mark the fugg up to the customer they get on discount to begin with.

I don’t have a lift and I doubt “All Data” has a listing for it.

I’ll get a carton of pall mall and some oak cross-ties.

One thing for sure, I won’t pay $180 for $13 seal like “Son Jake” laugh

2003 Liberty that sensor is a hard code. Won’t clear on power down. Only way is to hook up a code reader and clear it. Any auto parts shop should have a scanner and can clear it for you.

Didn't know it was a DTC.

Yep tied into the air bag. One of those codes that forces you to take it in. They only want that fugger flying out at 100 mph to help you.

I just did mine, in my automotive garage - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, 4.7L V8. With 15 years of Northwest Ontarios corrosion & it took me almost 4 hours, start to refilled, bled & bought to temperature.

All the correct tools & using "proper" procedures at my disposal.

List price for this rad was $305 canadian, + 6 liters of premixed antifreeze.

If billed out, would have been $737 + HST = $833 Canadian

First of all no good mechanic would own a 2004 Cherokee. But I guess it would help.
That just proves you either don't know much about mechanics or 2004 Grand Cherokees..

Ya got me there. Careful ya don't burn your ass on those heated seats.
My 04 Laredo doesn't have heated seats. OK so we've extablished you don't know much about Grand Cherokees. What about mechanics ?

Will try that. Thank you.

Wrong......
It is against the law for them to red button and clear your codes per the NTSC.
you should know that......

However if you have a good interaction between you and them
They will turn a blind eye and let you do it.

Now someone like swifto52 the " mechanic" if he does it. is gonna charge ya a diagnostic fee.
But then he will tell ya he might waive it if any repairs are needed and he does em.
And if ya dont have him do it
You pay him a diagnostic fee.
Dammed if ya do , dammed if ya dont situation
LOL!!!

Just go to a auto zone or wherever
Have em pull the codes
Have em print out the codes and what they are and see if they will turn a blind eye and let you red button it .
If it works and clears the code and any previous codes
Roll with it

If not, you got the print out of schitt as a baseline start.

Yep, if the air bag light is on, as you indicated, the system is non functional until rectified, so won't go off in your face.

Get the DTC read & go from there - they my be able to clear the code & therefore reset, or they my "suggest" you need work done.

I don’t do much on my vehicles anymore. They let us work overtime, easier to work the OT to pay for car repairs, plus it counts towards my retirement. When I retire, I may have to go back to working on them.

There’s nothing I hate more than working on vehicles. I loathe it to the point that I’ll happily pay other, more talented men to do the work for me. We “inherited” my in-laws 2008 Outback that’s been well maintained but as I almost always do with a newly acquired vehicle, I have new brakes installed on all 4 corners. My neighbor, also my best bud, talked me into having the 2 of us do it in my garage last Saturday. “Ohhh, it’ll only take us 3, 4 hours max” my bud says.....
I got the “better than OEM”calipers, rotors and pads.....long story short, it took us 12 hours 8:30–8:30. It’d go much quicker now that we’ve figured out some “tricks” and having a rack rather than someone my size crawling around on the cold concrete floor. In the future I’ll gladly pay a professional the $300-$400 to do the job for me.

I know the social stigma attached to Subarus but it’s a comfortable ride and an “easy” vehicle to drive. It’s not sexy but my wife looks good in everything she drives. 😁 She’ll use the Outback as a commuter and grocery getter while her Bitchin’ Camaro will be used for fun.
