I undertook great projects: I built houses for myself and planted vineyards…I bought male and female slaves…I also owned more herds and flocks than anyone in Jerusalem before me. I amassed silver and gold for myself, and the treasure of kings and provinces. —Ecclesiastes 2:4-10

The secular, scaled-down version of Solomon’s lifestyle shows up in the modern bumper sticker:

He who dies with the most toys wins.

Gorgeous rifles! Enjoy them as much as you can!

In response to Mr. Whitebird's last post, here is the last verse of that chapter of Ecclesiates: vs. 11: or as Paul Harvey used to say here is the rest of the story: "Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had labored to do: and behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun." In other words, all his STUFF did not give him any lasting satisfaction. And Solomon, the writer of Ecclesiates, was considered the wisest man of his time. So, the lesson here is, we can enjoy things like our rifles, but we're kidding ourselves if we believe they or any other material things, will give us any real lasting satisfaction.

Some of these firearms elevate to "art" though, and IMO there is something transcendental about the appreciation and love of them, something much nobler than Solomon's "vanity."

Some beautiful rifles gentlemen.

I am continually astounded at how quickly people make up their minds on little evidence or none at all.
