for a really good price in 6.5x47 Lapua...Rig has sat idling in a safe for 2 years. 1000 rounds on the barrel. Stiller TAC 30 action. Brux #5 contour with a Muscle Brake. All sitting in a Manner MCS-T3 handle.

I wouldn’t have considered buying it, but a pard had recently called me asking if I’d be interested in 1400 rounds of new loaded 6.5x47 LAP ammo at a good price he had laying about.

Seemed like a solid plan coming together...Until I bought the rig, called my buddy asking about the ammo and him telling me he’s got a guy already interested in the ammo....Well Shît!

If the ammo situation works out...I’m balls deep in ammo and Lapua brass. If not, I’m starting from scratch and building loads with dies I will need to buy. Impulse buys sometimes work out....Sometimes not, so much. 😎

Laffin...Sans rings and Harris legs. I did get 90 pieces of new Lapua brass though.

This rig is just beggin for a Beaver spray painting overhaul. Introducing Orange against the OD should set it off right properly.

🙄😎

I have a track suit in that color combo.

Shame on the seller for leaving the NF rings on for photos, when he intended to exclude them.

Fortunately, I’ve gotten some excellent assistance on loading for this rifle...I’m not ashamed to admit, I didn’t know much, if anything about the the X47 Lapua...

I’ve gotten a lot of solid reports that this chambering and obviously Pierce being the builder should make this rig an absolute tack driving machine.

Anyone else care to share what and why this chambering is so successful? I’ve been reading and it’s apparently a favorite flavor for PRS comp shooters.

Any reports as a killing rifle for deer, antelope or coyotes? Just trying to learn about it and actual owners would be helpful instead of me web prowling for information.

Thanks in advance....😎

Thinking so too, Don...Seller said he’d played with it out to 1400 yards with good hits doing his part behind the scope.

Based on the size of the muffler hanging off the barrel. I’d say recoil will be reduced to a point of seeing hits/misses without a problem. 😎

Don, I believe Kurt told me 140 Bergers and Varget has been his choice lately and yes that was one hell of a 1000yd group!

The lapua round has been really easy to load for. The 3 we have are sporting .170 freebore. Here are 3 rounds that all shoot great in all 3 rigs.

41.2 IMR4451, 140 vld, cci450
39.8 H4350, 147 eld, cci450
37.7 Varget, 135 classic, cci450

That 135 load is sub .30 for 5 rounds in the 2 I shoot it in. And it held up well per Don's comment at 1000 too. I'd shoot or hunt any of those 3 loads with no worries. Got a muffler on all 3 and can't imagine a much more fun round to shoot or hunt with.

Don bailed me out on the Varget stash. Had a bottle of IMR4166 that was going to get tested but instead started loading up Varget and 135s for this falls hunts.

I wondered why muzzle brakes on lighter recoiling rifles. Now I know. I wouldn't have guessed it but it makes sense.

Not a new article, but maybe you haven't seen it.

As far as deer and the like, think 260 Remington or 6.5 Creedmoor ballistics. Prone to be accurate, moderate recoil, plenty of power for the job.

That’s really good stuf guys....Thank you!

30338, Aalf was also talking up the Varget to me earlier...Sounds like some Varget and 135g Classics could be good stuff.
