Any of you dabble with these?

For instance, you can put one of their .209 12ga to muzzleloader adapters in your break action shotgun and then use it as a muzzleloading shotgun for special season use.

I plan on ordering one to drop into an H&R single barrel just to play with and probably shoot a turkey this year.
$35

There’s some videos out there if you google it (I’m on my iPad now or I’d give you some links).
So, anyone with experience?

No one...?

OK. I ordered the 12 ga 209 primer / muzzleloader adapter today. $37.99 to my door.
My brother and I will experiment with it to see how well it works/or not.
There's lots of videos out showing the various forms of adapters available.
If this project works well. I may buy a couple of the 20 ga adapters and use them in a side by side that I have.
My real interest in this is to roll a turkey or two with a black powder gun - because I haven't!

Looks interesting. Check your laws closely though. Some states say a muzzleloader must have a breechplug to be legal for muzzleloader seasons.

Yup. Our law specifically prohibits ones cobbled together with a "plug".

No shotgun ML seasons here yet, so the law should only apply for use in the ML deer season. Your setup might be fun for small game, or a handy prepper tool.

In Oregon, that a non issue.
As such, the shotgun would then be legal under the definition of "smooth bore muzzle loading shotgun"
.
There are no set seasons for different harvest methods - a muzzle loading shotgun fits the same regulations as any modern shotgun - only restrictions there pertain to max bore size and max shot size.

Rifles, handguns and crossbows, nor muzzle loading rifle or handgun are not allowed for turkey.

So, the 12 ga adapter arrived and I am very impressed with the product.
It’s fit to chamber is perfect and it has a recessed O-ring seal.
The cut-out fits where the extractor is, so it can’t pull it from the chamber when you open the action.

It’s to be used in my brothers single shot 12 ga with about 75-85 grains (volume) of RS Pyrodex and the same volume of shot. In our case, #6 is on hand. A #209 shotgun primer lights it off.

I liked it enough to order two of the 20 ga adapters to use in my Browning BSS 20 ga.
If it groups well @ 20-30 yards, it will get the call for turkeys this year.

Ok, since sooooo many of you are interested in these adapters 😅..... here’s a quick report.

We shot them in three different shotguns.
One 12 ga single shot.
One 20 ga single shot and a Browning BSS 20 ga.

All loads were with Pyrodex RS 80 gr volume.
Shot was #6 @ 80 and 90 gr volume.
Over powder and shot wads were balled wax paper as per instructions......

All loads were turkey worthy at 20 yards.
The 12 was ok at 30 yards, but the 20’s were pretty open.
The 12 is a full choke, while the single 20 is modified and the BSS is mod/impcyl.

Our turkey hunting will be from blinds at pinch point travel areas and strut zones, so 20 yards will work.
We can harvest three toms each. I’d like to take a couple with the black powder rigs just for fun.

Clean up was what you’d expect from any bp gun with a removable breach plug and barrel.
So, easy but that good old rotten egg stink!
It’s a cheap way to experiment with a smooth bore bp shotgun, without the firearm purchase expense.

Over and out 🦃

What material is it made of? Steel, I'm going to guess. This sounds like a pretty simple machining project, basically just duplicate a shotgun shell in drill rod or something similar, with a few O ring grooves on the outside and a snug slip fit primer pocket.

Yup, steel. Don't know if it's stainless or not however.
They do a nice job machining them and cutting the grove.
Take a look at their web site and you can see for yourself.
