I hear Starline is making .348 Win. brass, which is better, Winchester or Starline? Is any one making 35-348 Ackley Improved brass?

Where can you get Winchester 348 brass? I can find Starline and Hornady. Both are expensive. You're lucky if you can find 348 brass, you'll have to shop hard to find wildcat brass.

I'd be surprised if anyone did since with the rimmed .348 case, fireforming the wildcats based on it is just too easy. The 35-348 AI should be perfect for the Cream of Wheat method, not even needing to waste a bullet to form the case.
I wanted one of those Browning M71 re-issues when they came out back in the 90s but never got one...

Roberson Cartridge Company said they sell 35-348 Ackley Improved brass and will make it if I send them a chamber cast. I asked the price per 50 and have not had a response. I will learn to make my own brass. TRexF16 what is the Cream of Wheat method?

I have a 338-06 and dies etc. It is no harder to load then any other rifle cartridge. This 35-348 will probably be my one adventure into the wildcat world and is the result of me wanting a 250 grain .35 caliber bullet at over 2,500 fps mv from and old Winchester or Marlin lever gun. This Mod. 71 Win. is going to scratch that itch.

I can't say Starline is better than Winchester but it is every bit as good. I have switched over to Starline for almost all of my handgun brass and use their rifle brass in 32-20 and 45-70. I have been very pleased with all the brass of theirs I've used. I haven't tried their 348 brass because I have an ample supply of Winchester brass. I certainly wouldn't be afraid of it. From what I've seen RCC is very expensive brass. Starline 348 isn't cheap but I doubt it's anywhere near what RCC will be.

I would probably just run Starline through your dies to neck it up and fireform with .358 pistol bullets. Same amount of work and noise as the COW method but you can plink at rocks or something while making the noise. If nothing else it’s trigger time with your new rifle.

Based on what advice I have received on the forums I am going with the .348 Ackley Improved version. I doubt any Alaskan critter will know the difference between a 250 grain .348 bullet or a 250 grain .35 caliber bullet when driven around 2,500 fps mv. I have a bunch of Kodiak Custom Bonded 250 grain bullets headed my way. Once the rechambering job is complete I will learn to fire form brass.

I am excited and this is probably my one time adventure into the "wildcat" arena, other then our 338-06, which is hardly a "wildcat" any more.

I'm using Starline brass and it's avg 6 gr heavier than winchester brass 243gr vs 237gr.
I'm avg 2360fps with 250gr Barnes fn and 57gr H4350.

I have an above-average stock of W-W 348 brass and bullets.
The Hawk 200 gr is excellent for deer while I use Kodiak and 270 gr Hawks for anything bigger.
One 270 gr fixed a moose-348 Ack improved. A lever version of the 35 Whelen.

I like the Cream O' Wheat method, but given the availability of cheaper pistol bullets of the proper diameter, I have to agree with the Kid that this is the way to go. A pistol powder in the Bullseye-to-Unique burn range is your friend.

That's a tad hot. Lever actions don't give you much inkling of hot loads so just watch it...

I will. I have been reading all of your posts concerning the 348. The brass looked great. There wasn't any flattened primers, and the rifle didn't kick at all
