I've been using the the .35 cal 200gr RN Remington Core-lokt in my 35 Rem since I first started loading for it and I have become convinced that it is THE bullet to use in my Marlin 336. I've killed a good truckload with them and have never recovered a bullet but the wounds indicate that they are expanding well and they stay on a more or less straight line.
But my questions are ...... Have you ever used these in a 358Winchester? If so how have they performed? At what velocity are you shooting them? Will they take the extra velocity of the the 358Win or will they come apart with the extra speed. I expect to have an exit with every thing I load . It has been my experience that two holes bleed better than one! But most of the time deer drop in the spot or fall in sight. No trackers need apply.
I think that full throttle velocity from the 35Whelen will exceed the bullet's design too far and have core/ jacket separation that would not have an exit because of bullet blow up. I have been shooting the 200gr Hornady RN Interlocks or 225gr Nosler Partitions in the 358 for years and like them. The 35 Whelen is far more gun than necessary for Louisiana whitetails but 35 caliber rifles are fun! The 358 works very well so I added a Whelen to my batch of 35cal rifles to have even more fun!
What are your thoughts about the 200gr RN Remington Core-lokts in the 358Win and the 35 Whelen? Any actual experiences?

I've used it in the 35 Whelen with no problems. I was using it slightly downloaded to 358 WIN velocities.

I've used the Rem 200gn SP in my Whelen on some good sized pigs with great results. It has guite a small amount of lead exposed at the nose. My 'guess' is that the RN version will work fine. Remington would assume that lots of .35 Whelens would get loaded with that bullet so would make it to stand up to Whelen velocities.

The RN 200 grain Core lokt was a great bullet in my 358 BLR. I used that bullet on top of 46.0 grains of 3031 to take four deer in a matter of minutes the last day of the season in 2010. 4 shots and 4 deer. I used it take several feral hogs and several more deer until they started pricing them higher than comparable bullets from Hornady. I never recovered a bullet so they must have held together. Shot great also.

I like the Speer flat points in 180 grains for deer and 220 grains for anything bigger, heavier, or tougher in my 356 WIN, a reworked Marlin 336 SD that arrived as a 35 REM.

I found that the 220 grain Speers were so tough that they would pencil through 100 to 150 lbs. whitetails without showing much, if any, sign of expansion. The 180 grain Speers are a rapid killer on those same size whitetail. I'm a behind the shoulder shooter, so the 220 grain Speers might have expanded more if I'd aimed to break bone instead of aiming to scramble the lungs

I am setting up a 700 SS BDL to be rebored into a 35 Whelen. I have quite of few Remington 200 gr sp cl. As well a few 200 gr. RN cl. Was hoping they would stand up to the velocity. Also plan to try the 220 Speer HC and 180 TTSX to start with.
We have been using the Speers 180 HCFN in the 357 Maximum at 2325 FPS. Outstanding performance and every time has gave up pass throughs. Distance after the shot has been 0-25 yards.
My 357 Rimless is running a 180 at 2600 FPS. I don’t see the need for the 358 Win. Yet!!!! Lol

Shot a big rutting buck square in the neck at about 45 yards with one that stopped against a broken vertebrae.

I doubt that a Whelen is going to push a 200 grain Core Lokt fast enough to come apart. That would hit a deer or hog or hell a Hog like a bowlng ball and knock it off its feet. I shoot 270 grain Speer Hot Cores in my 9.3x62 and I get two holes every time, big holes. Now if you shoot it in a .358 Norma Magnum it can push it fast enough to explode, maybe. But I doubt the Whelen would do it. Maybe I'm wrong.

Years ago had a 375 H&H Factory 270 Gr Cor-Lok come apart on this small Br Bear. Bear got back up after I shot it through nose, killed it with a shoulder shot.

Found out later I had hit a small alder first bullet went to pieces and slid along both sides of skull. Never trusted them again after that.

That said probably be fine in the .358 Win if you do not push them to fast.

Case capacity would dictate that your are right on the money.
I think the OP will have no trouble with the .358 win and his chosen bullet.

I've used it in the 99 Brush gun for almost 100% DRTs. Was looking at the 180 gr TTSXs for the next bullet. Used 4064 or Varget in the middle of the loading chart. The velocity must have been just right. Be Well, Rustyzipper.

Goat, I hope those 200 gr Remingtons work well for you no matter the cartridge you load them in!

I harvested a KY whitetail with a Hornady Inter-lok 200gr. RN from my .35 Whelen velocity approx 2,500 fps, performance was outstanding. A raking shot @ 100yds entering just ahead of the last two ribs traversed the chest cavity and came to rest under the hide on the far side. The bullet was perfectly mushroomed and retained 66% of its original weight. When I opened the chest the contents poured out, looked like they'd been in a blender the hydrostatic shock was formidable.

I still think the corelokt is good in 200 gr for the 358 Winchester in RN and SP. The SP looks like a protected point. But again, I think they were all DRTs in the Winchester. Just 'chute 'em. Be Well, Rustyzipper.

No 35 cal. experience but have used other CL RN and I like them because they are the original Inter Loktt design with a much heavier jacket at the base than the current spire points. The jacket is slightly thicker at the nose to retard expansion, then it thins past the ogive and then quickly gets thicker. I used 30-30 CL RN 150s & 170s in the 308 so similar to the 35 Rem to 358W progression. Section one to see what you have or shoot some into wet & dry paper medium. Or use my favorite medium feral hogs. I bet the 358 will work perfectly and the Whelen should too or if not just throttle down a little.

I have had great performance in my 358 win BLR with 200 grain coreloc, have not recovered one but the lungs were destroyed every time. In my Whelen performance was good but I did find an empty copper jacket in off side shoulder. I may have loaded them a little too hot as there was quite a bit of bloodshot meat loss in the off shoulder, unlike the 358 where you could eat right up to the hole.
