So a while back I purchased this 4-cavity Minie-Ball mould at a local auction. I have been unable to determine anything about the origin of it and it really has my curiosity piqued. It is .577 caliber with what appears to be brass.blocks, a steel frame and wooden handles. The entire thing slides open to dump the bullets while the hollow-point pins are held in place by small screws. There is a lever on each side of the mould block and sprue plate which can be seen in the picture. They hold the mould in a closed position while pouring lead. After the bullet hardens, you flip the levers up and pull the wooden handles away from each other, causing the mould blocks to separate. "B-2406" is stamped on each end block, "577a" (for the caliber, evidently) on one of the end blocks and "2406" on the side of the center block. Any information on this mould would be greatly appreciated including an estimate of value, if possible. May have a better chance of finding information by posting on the castboolits.com website if you haven't already done so.

Ross Seyfried, if anyone has a contact, might be a good resource.
I looked at it, but I have no clue.

Single Shot (ASSRA?) group or the North South Skirmish Association may be places to try also. That is one KEWL mold I will have to say.

There is no brand name on it and if it was handmade then a professional did an expert job. I have no idea what it's worth but had one guy offer me $250 for it.

Try here- http://www.antiquereloadingtools.com/You'll need to sign up to be able to access the forum. A lot of these guys are on some of the bullet casting forums as suggested above.

Steve......... I believe so, Steve, and my apology for not posting back here. A member in the North-South Skirmish Association forum posted this picture which is an ad from back in the 70's and it's the exact same thing that I have. They apparently made this mould in different projectile styles. Still no idea on value, though. Here's a link to a picture of the scanned article.

Made and sold by Numrich Arms way back in the sixties if my memory serves. I almost bought one but was a beginning teacher with a kid on the way and finances were really tight.
