Let's see your pride and joy 22's - no plastic on this one, just pretty wood stock and blued metal.

Here's one of my favorites - a Savage/Anschutz 164 .22LR with an old Leupold 4-12 Vari X II AO.

I suppose it would be this one. I've thought about selling it as my consolidation continues but can't quite bring myself to do it yet.

i grew up chasing squirrels in the timbered river bottoms, and now 50 years later still have a fondness for squirrel hunting with rimfires.

Some pretty ones for sure. I have never had luck posting pictures.. Mine is perhaps more a classic that classy. A first year BSA Martini International MKIII with both the Parker Hale peeps and a Lyman SuperTargetSpot 20X. Took several years to find a good original one. It's fun to shot 22's into the same hole at many different yardages. At 12 pounds+ not really a hunting rifle.

If classy can be classic, here’s some oldies. Like to shoot irons while still can.

Nothing but good CZs here, I dunno if they're "classy" or not, but I like 'em heaps and heaps. Even the oddball one in stainless and synthetic, it's okay, too.

Colt Frontier Scout 22 LR and Idaho Leather Holster - I bought bought of them new in 1962. The Colt was $49.95 ($419.00 in 2020 money), expensive enough that I did a lay-away on it, I can't remember what the holster cost but they have both more than paid for themselves.

I reworked the front sight and lightened the trigger on the Colt, it has shot 1000's of rounds and is still tight and accurate, although both it and the holster show a lot of wear they will last as long as I do and then will be passed to my son and hopefully his son.

I don't know if it is just the way the rifle is sitting or what but those are some huge looking ground griz.

JR, that Dakota is gorgeous. Is there a magazine in the floorplate or what? I'm not really familiar with Dakota 22's.

Thanks Dave, and the other fans of walnut & steel.
The magazine doesn't have a latch like most 22s. The floormetal is the exact same as the one used on the Kurz short action Dakota 76. The floorplate has 2 sets of T slots where you can attach a standard W shaped magazine spring. On the 22RF the W spring is cut to one short leg only about 1 1/2" long and attached to the floorplate on the opposite end as a standard 76. When the floorplate is closed the short spring keeps pressure against the magazine. Open the floorplate and the mag falls out.

There's a Trap buttplate I whittled into a solid McFarland with an extra magazine just waiting to dispatch a heard of squirrels.

Jesse Kaufman did an outstanding job engraving on this rifle. I'm glad he's just a half hour away.

The more pics you show of it the more I'm drooling.

There are so many really great guns in this thread. I'll try to add some to the thread today.

JRGunmaker, your Dakota is special. As beautiful a rifle as I've seen in a long, long time. Thanks for sharing photos with us.

FB,

You know I couldn't let you post without a comment smile ……...there is just something about that rifle that conjures up images of squirrel camp with fires, beer and good friends - when things were a whole lot simpler!

Please tell me that's a custom stock on the 56. I've never seen one like it.

I have a Model 62 in .256 and I can tell you with certainty the stock doesn't begin to look that nice.

Jim, how do you like the dst in your 201. I sold the dst I had. My 201 would not adjust down near as low as my k22’s.
So I recently bought another dst for my 201. Hasbeen

My best. Belgian T-Bolt. Reworked by Art's Sport Shop in Warsaw, MO. He did all Browning's work.

Next is my 541S. Needs a trigger. Have had 2 AD's.

Finally is my Browning A-Bolt. the wood is better than the photo shows.

Remington Model 33 single shot, my grandfather's. Believe my dad or someone certainly re-finished the stock.

It kept his family and others fed long ago.....so I decided on cloudy morning about 2 years ago, to try for squirrels, but never got a good shot opportunity, Great hair trigger, but sights not so great for my vision today. So I went for a walk along a wood line nearby...flushed what looks to be a young Swamp Rabbit that thought it was safe stopping about 15 yards away, hiding his head behind a small tree. My Grandfather probably got a smile that day. I sure did. Love quality modern arms and sights.......but nothing like taking a vintage and sentimental arm out to harvest dinner! That Rabbit SURE was delicious! wink

Springfield 1922's certainly get my vote as a classy .22, I've owned several over the years. My current M2 has been sporterized with a nice checkered stock and wears a Lyman Alaskan with 2 minute LEE dot in a Griffin & Howe mount. It is every bit as accurate as my Winchester M/52 Sporter, so much so that I sold the Winchester.

I thought it might not qualify but I couldn’t photoshop it out:)

If memory serves me and it frequently does not, I bought that from a gentleman in Oregon... was it you??

Glad y’all enjoyed it. Shot my share of rimfire over the years. Handguns and rifles of all types. None can compare to the beautiful ones in this thread but suffice to say they been fun, and very effective. Like many here I’ve pulled off some shots that folks would have to see to believe. Few surprised me as well. A good 22 would have to rank high on the list as most fun and one of the last guns I would want to part with if I could only have one.

Mike, I like it alot. I don't think it adjusts down quite as low as the K22 but it isn't to bad.

You would be correct. You must be clairvoyant! Mine is the Classic configuration, but it has a longer/heavier barrel and nicer wood than what you'll find on the current 57M Classic models. I have a Weaver V24 on mine. A few years ago I would have been able to post a picture of mine but the photo service I used to use went out of business and I just don't want to bother with them anymore.
