Who makes packs with scabbards large enough to fit rifles with large scopes?

Checking to see if there is something comparable to an Eberlestock Phantom, except lighter with a frame or support of some type.

Thanks.

The Eberlestock gunslinger II looks pretty slick, and it’s about 3 lbs lighter than the Phantom. The scabbard is built in, not removable like the phantom, but looks plenty big enough to handle large scoped rifles.

Eberlestock sells scabbards separately and can be attached to just about any pack or pack frame.

The scabbard on certain Eberlestock packs is extremely functional. About 80% of the rifle is protected from the elements. With familiarity, you can reach over your head and slide it out without taking the pack off. Did it a couple of times and had elk in the freezer to prove it. It can be used to store a large spotting scope too.

I have a tactical rifle with a 50mm Schmidt on top. I use an older X1(A1?) for it and it works fine.

I had looked at the "Just One" as well but the scabbard on that was significantly smaller and wouldn't fit the scope/rifle combination. The scabbards vary a lot in size.

If you can, I would try to test fit the rifle you plan on using into the scabbard before you buy it. Make sure the fit isn't too tight to get the gun out easily.

I see that Eberlestock has brought back the Halftrack pack, a front loading 2,200 ci, 3-day pack. Hang a scabbard on the side and go.

+2 on the "Try it to test the fit". I have three Eberlestock packs. The scabbards vary in size. Typically carry a "traditional style" hunting rifle with low mounted 40mm scope and flush bottom metal. One of the packs, (X3 Low Drag, I think) the scabbard is so wide that a traditional rifle tends to "slosh" back and forth until you really cinch down the straps...

If you are doing a lot of brush busting with the pack on, be aware that pine needles, twigs, leaf litter will fall into the scabbard. One year in Colorado, pulled my rifle out of the pack at end of day and found a section of scrub oak twig stuck in the barrel. frown Most of the Eberlestock scabbards have a clean out zipper at the bottom of the scabbard. Need to occasionally pop that open and remove any trash that has collected in the bottom of the scabbard.

My wife has modified a couple of the eberlestock scabbards to fit larger scopes by sewing in extra material and they work great. If you don’t have a seamstress at home you can take it to a local shop.

Halftrack packs are nice. Had one and really liked the front panel opening.

I bought an Alaska Guide external frame out of Cabela's bargain cave with one.
